  1. Hmmm. I don't hear too much southern rock in their sound. I think they are one of the finest representions of heavy blues and just plain old guitar rock... the kind the ladies don't like. As for southern rock, no band writes better southern rock tunes than My Morning Jacket - and they aren't even a southern rock band per say.
  2. I've never really liked Tina Fey's brand of humour - although Mean Girls was kinda funny - but I enjoyed her rant on Paris a great deal.
  3. The area isn't the best for hotels. I'd try the Travelodge on King West. It's not too far from The Orbit Room. Travelodge is at King and Bathurst (near The Wheat Sheaf) and The Orbit Room is near Bathurst on College (a few blocks west of Bathurst). So, it's three blocks away, plus the Bathurst streetcar runs all night at $2.75. Both locations are in good areas with some character, especially The Orbit Room which is in Little Italy.
  4. I love The Keys. Their recent concert DVD is excellent.
  5. I was shocked to read in yesterday's Toronto Star that shoe-gazer reviewer Ben Rayner liked the Toronto G&R show. Tommy Stinson kicks ass.
  6. I'll never understand why Boston updated their jerseys back in the 80's. The Bruins' throwback jerseys looked fantastic last night. I wish for the days of Cam, Stan, Terry, Bobby and Rick.
  7. Don't get me wrong. Zaun is a good offensive catcher and leader. But he doesn't have a good arm. However he is a good catcher when it comes to handling pitchers. Toronto doesn't have anyone in their system ready to take on an active back-up role, so Zaun is a good fit. Plus, you'll have a hard time finding a quality role player catcher for 1 million.
  8. Zaun is worth 4 mil if you compare him to other catchers. He is still one of the better hitting catchers and was more productive than Benji before they brought him in to replace Greg. Also, Zaun is his own agent and will get 3-4 mil a season, but look for 2 years plus an option, which is fair, especially since cheap good hitting catchers are still uncommon - and 3-4 mil per is still not that expensive from a proven hitting catcher not prone to injuries and a leader.
  9. You are out of the loop then. Atlanta is a pretty complete team and no one's patsy. However, they still have to play in one of the worst professional sports cities in the States.
  10. No they do not. A good defensive catcher with a bit of pop would be nice. And my apologies for spelling Zaun wrong.
  11. In fairness, Golden State are a pretty decent team although the Raps should have beaten them since Murphy was out with a sore foot. Atlanta on the other hand, is one of the best teams in the NBA so far and a more complete team than Toronto.
  12. Potentially Zahn and Barajas behind the plate. I'm happy with that if it happens.
  13. And the money that the Jays 'may' be paying for Thomas hardly even registers when compared to what the Red Sox have paid and are going to pay for the services of Japanese pitching phenom Daisuka Matsuzaka - who is an unproven commodity on this side of the pond.
  14. Sounds like you are a master op-traffic coordinator hybrid.
  15. I monitor lots of often brutal music television programming.
  16. Since cars are not environmentally responsible, StoneMtn's original question falls into doubt. Smart Cars are not family cars, thus families buy them as a second car for the husband and/or wife to putt around town instead of taking mass transit. Single people are lured into buying them to putt around town instead of using mass transit.
  17. Almost as intriguing as the Thomas signing is what will the Jays do regarding catchers? I know Zahn wants to sign with the Jays and since he is his own agent, he will probably get his wish - at around $5 mil a season... and worth every penny. Who's going to be the main starter?
  18. Since they are going to pay him a fortune, let's hope he isn't washed up - and he certainly wasn't washed up last year.
  19. Man, if Thomas is healthy - a big IF - their hitting looks fierce. We still don't know what the deal entails and Badhams is right that the Jays will be flush with more money this year. Not a big shock that my cable bill is over $170 a month.
  20. I'm hoping any deal with Thomas is incentive oriented instead of guaranteed big money. With Wells, indication is that he is going to try the free agent waters regardless, and he wouldn't take the money they are allegedly waving at Thomas since he could get more in next year's market. Just look at Sheffield. He's going to get over 14 mil a season when he signs, probably with the Tigs.
  21. I heard guys really like to get their stink on at the Gay-MCA.
  22. I saw quite a few Smart Cars when I was in France last May. The car really suited cramped France streets in urban centres like Paris and Tours.
  23. Not sure what you're getting at here... Europe has dozens of multi-lane highways like the 401. The Smart car is built by Mercedes - a German automaker. Germany is the home of the autobahn. That said' date=' I'd be scared shitless driving a smart car on any highway. [/quote'] I believe I was getting at that they suit small European city streets where parking and driving is tight.
  24. If I could afford one and wanted a car, I'd also buy a hybrid.
  25. Hey Corey, For one thing, a fender-bender in a Smart Car is pretty darn serious. Also, Toronto drivers are some of the most aggressive and dangerous in the country. And another thing, how comfortable are you with winter driving in a Smart Car - or heading on a trip on the 401 during a heavy rain, trying to pass transport trucks. They are European built and not designed for North American highways like the 401. And one more thing, Smart Cars are pretty expensive and on a practicality scale, not a good buy overall.
