  1. It's just a brand name for Bravo!'s concert series. They film each concert in their fancy state-of-the-art studio. It's in the same Citytv/Chum building. You can't miss it when you drive by the station on Queen Street.
  2. I slap on some Grateful Dead from time to time just to remind me how great they were. I dig out and crank one of the best albums of the 60's every month or so: Roger The Engineer by The Yardbirds. Jeff Beck was in great form and Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones smoked on Happenings Ten Years Ago.
  3. Just curious: Did Pete go into any solos at the ACC? It seems that he's been not doing solos recently ala Neil Young.
  4. As you know, I had issues with elements of Jim's voice throughout the CD, but musicianship wise, I thought they were pretty "on". And since there's lots of long instrumental forays, the album on a whole is a pretty exciting live document. I agree that they've had better nights; it's not better than the boot of MMJ at The Opera House in Toronto or some of the Bonnaroo stuff (to name just a few), but the DVD in particular is pretty darn good.
  5. Not to mention JYD is working for the Raptors as a goodwill ambassador.
  6. Besides the hilarity content-wise, this may be your funniest butchering of the English language.
  7. ... without on-court contributions by JYD, Charles Oakley and Rafer Alston. The only Raptor fan surprised and unhappy about this is Chameleon, at least until their next losing streak.
  8. Why Top 6? Not Top 5 or Top 10? Trying to be a rebel or something, or are was there only 6 great albums released this year?
  9. I can't get enough of that Raconteurs CD. Watermelon Slim's album is fantastic too.
  10. The concert was recorded a month ago at the very cool and intimate Bravo! studio in Toronto - I believe this is the first airing. The concert begins at 10pm and re-airs at 1am.
  11. Booche convinced me to join with these fine words: "C'mon, join the Sanctuary. We make fun of Barrett (Davey Boy) all day long".

I know what you are saying.
  13. I thought the single sounded good. I too am a casual fan - well I like Brian Wilson (live) and Lovers In A Dangerous Time. Still the gayest looking straight band.

I thought about posting those reviews earlier this morning, but I thought you were working on a reivew AD and I didn't want to step on your feet.
  15. From Les Nessman on WKRP in Cincinnati (Note: Les actually said some hilarious stuff to Venus and Arnold before his monolgue below... along the lines "I've been researching black culture"). Les Nessman: "If the Beatles are the construct of modern music - and I use that word "construct" incorrectly - surely they were given birth to by Elvis Presley, a giant for sure, but the product of the black experience. Ergo - and I use that word correctly - blacks created modern music! Scratch an Allman Brother, and you have black. Scratch Billy Joel [pronounced Joe-well], and you have Howling Wolf! I could go on, but my mother is in town. Let's just say that every white rock and roll musician working today should take half of his or her paycheck and mail it directly to Chuck Berry. At least that's what I think, and I won't even go into jazz. Arnold, enjoy your visit to the station. Venus, nice visiting with you too!"

I used to believe that One Big Holiday was the best modern southern rock anthem, but now I think it's Lay Low. Man, it's truly thrilling when that song takes off into the guitar jam.
  17. Denny's and a 2-4 never looked so good eh Brad? Have a great Day!

I was in Boston a few years ago and thought that the city closed surprisingly early. Chinatown in NYC and Boston both close early too, so if you get the munchies late at night and have a hankering for some beef with black bean sauce, you may be out of luck.

Nice set with a share of refreshing unpredictable songs.
  20. The Rex on Queen @ University has the best jazz on Sunday nights, and it's either free or damned cheap. Pick up a Now or Eye magazine and check out the live events.
  21. It was a dirty play. All big body-checkers hit guys from behind from time to time, intential or not. Briere is a tough little guy and I'm looking forward to the next Washington-Buffalo game.
  22. Every so often some really young white blues gunslinger surfaces. I hope this kid goes the Derek Trucks/Jimmy Bowskill route and not the roads leading to Kenny Wayne Sheppard and Jonny Lang.
  23. I'm kinda shocked that Molly Hatchet didn't make the list. Same with solo Roger Daltrey. Anyone own any of his 70's masterworks?
  24. I have no issue with The Spin Doctors making the list. Their songs were cute back in their day, and are now unlistenable.
  25. There's a couple of Canadian bands that should have been mentioned. They would have easily cracked the Top Ten. And where are The Eagles and Phil-led Genesis?
