As for his work on the Daily Show, it's quite funny and ballsy. The show isn't as good as it once was, but it's tough to replace the irreplaceables such as Helms, both Steves and Corddry.

Oliver is a funny dude. Another thing I admire about Conan is that his incarnation of The Tonight Show pays homage to Carson's legacy right down to Conan being involved in sketches involving recurring characters and also the set-up of the band - expanded into a big-band with each musician playing behind old-style music stands a la Doc Severinsen's orchestra.

I think Phisheads are singled out because of the legions of them (and I do not believe that you are included in this) who think that band is the be-all' date=' end-all and think it would be cooler to amass a list of 40 Phish shows in a year than to experience something like the year Timmy B had. Jay hand-picked Conan to take over the Tonight Show because Jay wanted to basically retire... but secretly set up his own earlier show to undercut all the 11:30 late night programs. Jay is getting pounded with bad ratings and now wants to get his old job back. Fuck that smarmy backstabbing S.O.B..

Leno was gunning for Conan's job after 4 months of constant ratings drubbings.

Although it pales in comparison to the original, Thomas proves himself a fine serious actor.

I was a little surprised that the Germans got relegated last year. I was in Germany in September and hockey is on the radar there. I must say though, that the Swiss impressed me, not so much with their record, but on how they played. The competed much harder than past Swiss teams that stuck to the trap and general neutral passive play.
