    Caprica

I can't wait to see it. I couldn't watch it since I was away for a month in Whistler. I'm planning on catching up when it comes out on DVD this summer. Caprica just made EW's list of 10 best shows currently on TV.
  2. I do. It's a very big shirt, but I think you'll get more use out of it then I ever did.
  3. Hey Bob, welcome back! I'm also an east ender, so we'll have to hook up for some beers soon on Eglinton or even in my area (Broadview and Danforth).
  4. I'll be there on both nights. Laimoe? Whatever dude. I hope POG, Monkey, Roller and Esau can make it out. I'm looking forward to seeing Crystal, Holly and Davey's parents too. I want bets on what time Davey Boy gets hammered, turns off the tunes and starts playing the trumpet.
  5. I'm only a casual Col. Bruce fan (although I've liked the band since the early '90s). I'm a big Jimmy fan though, so I'd be at least be tempted to travel to The Hammer if he was going to be there.
  6. Is Jimmy playing with them, or is he still toiling away in WSP?
  7. Very few bands have pulled off a good show at the Phoenix, but it can happen: Television, Johnny Winter, John Spencer, nero, Alligator Records 25th Anniversary (and a few more). However, the Avetts at the Queen Elizabeth or even the 'Shoe would be preferable. Still, I'm all this concert, bad venue or not.
  8. The show has stopped production because the star, Andy Whitfield, has cancer and is undergoing treatment. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/entertainment/post/2010/03/spartacus-delayed-as-star-undergoes-cancer-treatment/1 In the meantime, why not re-watch the far far far superior Rome series or the original masterpiece:
  9. Jay Moonah made the best ever microbrew and their show at Elements was a blast. I remain impressed. I think we've moved along rather than moved on. You were in Seth? I went to Ryerson with Jay and he remains a friend, although I never see the guy. Jam hasn't been the same since Dr. Huxtable's last-ever performance of their funk masterpiece, "New Funk Order". It put Sly & The Family Stone's entire funk catalogue to shame.
  10. You may be underestimating the roles of Cameron's art directors, animators and cinematographer (all deserve recognition). However, Avatar's story is tired, the acting is across-the-board stiff and jingoistic and the climax is predictable; it looks and sounds good though.
  11. I found Bigelow's directing in The Hurt Locker instrumental in delivering the tension and hopelessness of the war. Also, she shot the film in a cinema verite style, which underscore's the plot's gritty realism. I do admire Cameron's direction and vision, but Avatar has some big flaws and isn't as good, quality-wise, as The Hurt Locked or Up in The Air (the latter I liked better than The Hurt Locker). If you want to compare geek action pics, Star Trek delivers better than Avatar too.
  12. It's going to be a theatrical release. I.Can't.Fucking.Wait. http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2010/03/04/hbo-rome-movie/
  13. I'd rather read a review from a noted critic from The New York Times or Chicago Tribune than a cynical basement shut-in with their own blog. And I think that sometimes opinions are objective.
  14. Mike, it really only matters what the Top Critics rate it on RT and not the bloggers/small print reviewers. Anyway, Burton films have a tendency to polarize; heck, I think Big Fish a masterpiece, but some didn't like it. FYI, Toronto Star critic Peter Howell gave Alice 3 1/2 out of 4.
  15. My favourite live performance (and cover):
  16. I'll be getting this sucker when it comes out. I like Jimi's new stuff.
  17. Hey, I hope everyone is doing ok. I chatted with some of the Wintersleep boys yesterday - they were on MOD. Great performance. I said to Much's PR woman: "Great band today, which is something I haven't said in two weeks". She said sarcastically: "You are hilarious". A few days back, I saw this hippy walking around handing out CDs to the crew; I asked for one, and lo and behold, it was a newish release from Wassabi Collective. I forgot the dude's name, but he's in the band. Today the madness known as Usher and his posse invade the MOD stage (thankfully, he's not performing). Kick Yankee ass on Sunday!
  18. Hello from Whistler. I've been really busy so I haven't been checking in. I'm working like the SOB that I am. If anyone is bored and wanting to be struck deaf, dumb and blind, I'm working MOD on Much at 5pm and 10pm EST, daily. If you look around the cameras on the floor or stage, you will more than likely see me (looking miserable due to the constant rain - at night the show is mostly indoors and I'm surrounded by drunk Aussies). Go Canada!!
  19. ... or else they'd bring shame to family.
  20. Another fetish is men, often businessmen, that like to pinch school girls in the ass in crowded subways. Another fetish, that isn't necessarily on TV, is tipping over drunken businessmen.
  21. You have only scratched the surface that is crazy Japanese TV, and I'm not even talking about Takeshi's Castle (BTW, the show's host, Beat Takeshi Kitano, is one of Japan's most revered directors and actors; his films kick fucking ass).
  22. Burke would only want one of their young stud forwards, and I can't see the Avs trading O'Reilly, Duchene, Stewart or the suprisingly impressive Yip. However, there has been talk about Wolski being shopped around, although he is their second leading scorer.
  23. Worst non laugh-track that resembles a laugh-track: Letterman's audience.
  24. Axl looks like an Allman Brothers roadie.
  25. A lot of MASH wasn't shot in front of a studio audience (for obvious logistical reasons) and the laugh-track was of the fake canned variety. It was deemed inappropriate to have a laugh-track duing the O.R. scenes.
