Actually, the original Pike, played by Jeffrey Hunter, wasn't available to reprise his role from the first pilot, so Rodennberry concocted another story and used a different actor to play Pike - the dude in the mechanical wheelchair that couldn't talk. Both episodes are great. Too bad Hunter died young too.

My sister has all the symptons of Chron's but hasn't been sufficiently diagnosed by the medical community. All I can say is get back on your diet and get to the doctor. I watched the ball game and flipped periodically to hockey. Halladay (my favourite athlete) vs the Yanks wins out over my Bruins, especially when Boston got a two-goal lead.

I saw Finding Nemo at an IMAX theatre and it was incredible. When Bruce the shark made his first appearance, it made some young kids scream and cry. I bet Star Trek on an IMAX screen would have the same effect on bradm.

Jamie Campbell thinks it was higher and I agree. The total was taken early in the game. It looked closer to 47,000.

I wouldn't call Abrams "unproven," although he hasn't proven - until now - success on the big screen; but he's got a proven track-record on TV with the success of Alias, Lost and Fringe. I love that Canadian movie vet Bruce Greenwood was cast as Pike. He's an admirer of the late Jeffrey Hunter (The Searchers, King of Kings, Sergeant Rutledge and The Longest Day), who played the original Pike in the excellent Star Trek pilot. Shocking that bradm hasn't beamed into this thread.

I tried to get Pearl Jam tickets, but they sold out in minutes. The Rise Against/Rancid show will be good. Other than that, this may be the weakest summer lineup I've seen since I moved to T.O. in 1991.
