  1. The best series of commercials on TV, but have spawned the worst copycat adds too.
  2. Another one of my all-time favourites has met an untimely and tragic end. Montreal's Arturo Gatti, one of the most exciting boxers of his era (or any other for that matter) was found dead in Brazil. His wife is the prime suspect. Even when Gatti was past his prime, he was still dangerous, but his fights while in his prime with Tracy Patterson, Ivan Robinson and especially Irish Mickey Ward are amongst the most thrilling fights ever. The thing I liked most about Gatti as a boxer was that he threw only bombs and he got more dangerous the more he got hurt, much like the way Felix Trinidad was in his heyday. 3. I took my beloved cat Maebe to the vet on Wednesday, worried about her breathing. The vet said she may have congestive heart failure. Sure enough, she does. My buddy is not long for this world (6 months, give or take) and my heart is broken. I've been crying (off and on) for three days. Hug your pet and give it the best quality of life you can. I haven't felt this bad since my dad died 13 years ago.
  4. "I:heart:Phish"? What are you, a teenage girl?
  5. Watson is excellent. From the little I've heard, he does have the more etheral elements of Radiohead in his sound, but there's also some haunting folk a la Jose Gonzales going on too.
  6. Sky Blue Sky runs out of steam for me around the mid point, but I'm really looking forward to this new album.
  7. Although if there's injuries (and there will be), the Raps have zero bench depth.
  8. It looks like a double-homicide in downtown Nashville. Shocking news: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/6512407.html
  9. drive by truckers isn't it lynrd skynrd (i know i spelled that wrong) Spelling their name wrong is appropriate given that they are a glorified tribute band with one original member.
  10. I would have liked to see Savard on the list.
  11. If you were around and a boxing fan in the 70s and 80s, then you know that there's never been a classier boxer, and better lightweight ever. Only when he tried to go for his 4th championship in 4 different weight classes did he lose, in mammoth battles with Aaron Pryor. I remember when Alexis knocked out an in-his-prime Boom Boom Mancini and he looked upset about it, hoping Boom Boom was ok instead of celebrating. Arguello was recently elected mayor of Managua, Nicaraguan. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/more_sports/2009/07/01/2009-07-01_saying_goodbye_to_legendary_boxer__and_my_friend__alexis_arguello.html
  12. Free Agent Frenzy day has been to this point a terrible waste of time. Nothing much really happens, unless you like to watch Kypreos and Darren Dreger trying to one-up each other with rumours.
  13. Any of the core downtown streets are good for walking and looking at historical buildings and neighbourhoods and interesting architecture. It's also worth making the trek to Sir John A's Bellevue House, near Queen's.
  14. You still have to go to Morrison's for any greasy spoon fare (located at "Springer" Market Square), for the tradition more than anything.
  15. Love that goes into the hoagies? More like it's all about the level of hate that goes into them.
  16. No trip is complete without a drunken trip to Bubba's for poutine, preferably after swilling beers at The Toucan or St. Patrick's or The Kingston Brew Pub. If you go to the Kingston Brew Pub, make sure to drink several pints of White Tail or Dragoons Pale Ale.

    Dexter

I believe Season IV premieres at the end of September on TMN and Showtime.
  18. Many of the Band of Brothers writers and directors are back including Graham Yost, the son of iconic TVO "At The Movies" host, Elwy.
  19. You probably read it at 3am on a Saturday morning, but I read better at that time.
  20. It will sell out slower at Rotate This and Soundscapes, but I'd get there the day they go on sale (call first).
  21. I was there too and wrote a review for Jambands: http://www.jambands.ca/sanctuary/showtopic.php?tid/245528/
  22. Strange 'cause their new album is the only one that doesn't make me sick.
  23. Nice looking festival. I wonder how the severely re-tooled Canned Heat will sound without founding singer-guitarist Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson and singer Bob Hite; both have passed on? Elvin Bishop rules. Also check out Leon Redbone and JW Jones (I hated his second last album, but his last album rocked).
  24. Shooters from a guy who doesn't shoot enough.
