  1. Along with The Forgotten Rebels, D.O.A. and Nomeansno (and a few others), Teenage Head were one of the most important Canadian/Hamilton punk bands of their era, especially on this side of the country. Sad news indeed. High school concerts wouldn't have been the same without Teenage Head.
  2. Layton had his election party at the Kool Haus last night. I heard the acoustics were awful.
  3. I doubt Lucic will fight him. Milan is a power-forward that occasionally fights and doesn't take dumb penalties (he had very few minor penalties last year), plus he wants to live.
  4. It should be a better matchup this regular season between these great rivals. I'm thrilled that Bergeron is back and healthy. Lucic had a bad pre-season (his own assessment), but he'll round into form. I like that Wheeler kid. Go Bruins, but the Habs will probably win.
  5. I was being fascitious AD. I meant the good folks at Samick.
  6. I put money on the guitar being from the luthier masters at El Degas.
  7. I think I like this move quite a bit: http://sports.sympatico.msn.cbc.ca/abc/News/ContentPosting.aspx?isfa=1&feedname=CBC-SPORTS-V3&showbyline=True&newsitemid=paul-beeston-jays
  8. Velvet knows Harper never said "fat-cats", but he may as well have said it with ignorant statements like this: From The Globe and Mail: ...the cuts as a "niche issue for some." "Of course, this government chooses its priorities," Harper told reporters after announcing a campaign proposal to end house arrests for serious crimes. "You know, I think when ordinary, working people come home, turn on the TV and see … a bunch of people at a rich gala all subsidized by the taxpayers, claiming their subsidies aren't high enough when they know the subsidies have actually gone up, I'm not sure that's something that resonates with ordinary people."
  9. By law everyone gets 3 hours to vote during regular business hours.
  10. I'm really happy to see that the Bouchards made it out for the show. I would have added to those numbers if I was off this weekend.
  11. Duck isn't that easy to find in stores and I don't think Brad is a hunter, unless he can use a phaser-rifle, plus duck ain't everyone's cup of tea. I was weaned on duck (mostly mallard, teal and various kinds of puddle ducks) growing up and I still don't like it. I prefer goose.
  12. You can get a turkey breast, bone and skin on, at most grocery stores, although getting a whole chicken is a good idea and easy to cook.

    Cheap Wine

What if you don't want "sweet wine" oh Jesus? Can you make a nice Pinot Gris?
  14. That's why I used the term PC. There are some old-guard PC's around in places of power and/or influence. I liked Joe Clark, Kim not so much.
  15. The Red Sox would never mess with tradition, but that hasn't stopped the Celtics and especially the style-blind Bruins. Man, the old 70's jerseys were beautiful, even with Cashman wearing 'em:
  16. St. Louis is a talented young team. Meh is not warranted, unless you are talking about their 3rd jersey. Someone show me the Bruins 3rd jersey. I'm hoping they bring back their 60's-70's jersey. Why they got rid of it I'll never know.
  17. He's never had a real fight where he's been hit in the chin by a guy with a bit of power. He lost. He has no chin and knows it.
  18. This website isn't pro-Liberal, it's pro-green. If you are in a riding that can beat the Conservative representative, then vote FOR whatever party is most likely to beat them. If you are green and anti-Harper, then the choice isn't about voting with your heart it should be voting using your head. NOTE: The site recommends voting NDP in many ridings such as Oshawa (down to 100 votes). It's just that the Liberals are gaining ground as I write - the latest poll has the Conservatives at 31% vs the Liberals at 27%. Whatever it is, the majority that Harper wants may be a fleeting dream.
  19. Jim was released from the hospital a few hours ago. He injured his head on the fall, but it looks like he's going to be alright.
  20. Not all PC's are painted with the same blue brush. I love this (from today's Canadian Press - it also ran in the Star): Williams focuses Tory fight on southern Ontario, but won't campaign there 23 hours ago ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Premier Danny Williams is focusing his so-called Anything But Conservative campaign on southern Ontario. Williams says he recognizes that southern Ontario is a battleground for the federal Conservatives and he wants to remind residents there of the harm Stephen Harper's government has brought to the region. In an interview today with The Canadian Press, Williams says Finance Minister Jim Flaherty disparaged Ontario when he said that the province was the last place someone would want to invest. On Monday, the premier's ABC campaign bought a billboard along the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto to remind voters of Flaherty's remarks. But Williams also says he won't take his campaign outside the province because he didn't think that would be the most effective use of his time. That's a change from his position earlier this year, when he said he would hit the hustings in Ontario.
  21. Are you kidding? I hate the Three Asshole Amigos more than life itself: Harper' date=' Flaherty and that fathead fucker Baird.[/quote'] Clement ain't too far behind. Baird really fucked Ottawa and it's transit plan dues to his grudge against his old nemesis Chiarelli. Clement is my #4, although you an rotate him in with any of the 3 too and I'd be okay with it.
  22. I know about some of the conditions in the north. My cousin John is a GP and he quit his successful practise in Kingston to treat people in isolated and poorer northern communities. He flies around Northern Ontario 5 days a week and he finds his job rewarding and meaningful. Before he left, he feuded with local politicians in Kingston - sometimes in print in the Kingston Whig - regarding underfunding towards GP doctors etc... so he left to find something more enriching.
