  1. There will be tail-gaiting, but it will be sponsored, naturally.
  2. The keyboardist is John "Rabbit" Bundrick. He's been collaborating with Townshend since 1977 and he's been a ghost member of the band since 1979. Pete fleshes out this current incarnation with old faces and family to partly hide the fact that he's the only one left. Roger should be put out to pasture. I'd pay big dough to see Pete front a band with Pino, Rabbit and Zak.
  3. When did Artie get his job back?
  4. Roeper has walked too: http://www.suntimes.com/business/1066861,feder072108.article
  5. I like Roger and do indeed miss him - he's still active in print however. I was a bigger fan of Gene though; I find Roeper to be pretty good as a Gene type. The new show without Roger is still entertaining and influential. Statement from Roger Ebert: After 33 years on the air, 23 of them with Disney, the studio has decided to take the program named "Siskel & Ebert" and then "Ebert & Roeper" in a new direction. I will no longer be associated with it. The show was a wonderful experience. It was a great loss to me when surgery in July 2006 made it impossible for me to appear on the air any longer. Although I remained active behind the scenes, I feel that Richard Roeper and several co-hosts, notably Michael Phillips and A.O. Scott, have excelled at carrying on the tradition Gene Siskel and I began in 1975 with "Sneak Previews" on PBS. Gene and I felt the formula was simplicity itself: Two film critics, sitting across the aisle from each other in a movie balcony, debating the new films of the week. We developed an entirely new concept for TV that has lasted all these years. Few shows have been on the air so long and remained so popular. We made television history, and established the trademarked catch-phrase "Two thumbs up." The trademark still belongs to me and Marlene Iglitzen, Gene's widow, and the thumbs will return. We are discussing possibilities, and plan to continue the show's tradition. Roger Ebert

    BEER!!

Anyone other than me drink tasty Boris from France or Kaiser from Austria? Both are readily available at the LCBO in handy 500 ml tall-boy form.
  7. Ted Rogers ranks a close second in arrogance (right behind MLSE) evident in his Bills to Toronto dictatorship. That Bills ticket guy sounds like the Jays ticket agent that's been calling me ever since I stopped getting flex-packs two years ago.
  8. Interesting story today from The Buffalo News (and it's being discussed right now on McCown's show on the east and western Sportsnet feeds). Paraphrasing: The lack of VIP sales has got to be a worry. http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/story/396229.html
  9. Hey bag, you should submit your mini review in the Show Reviews section. Short and sweet. Nicely done.
  10. I heard that only 20 minutes of the film uses IMAX.
  11. I'm not the biggest fan of comic-book film adaptations (minus American Splendor, Ghost World and a few others) or comics/graphic novels in general, but I can't wait to see this movie. I liked Batman Begins and from all reports, this sequel blows it out of the water.

    BURGERS!

It was news to me until last weekend.
  13. Worth picking up is the expanded The Who's Odds and Sods - it has the punk rock sounding studio version of "Young Man Blues" and a really jamming version of "Love Ain't For Keeping", featuring Pete on lead vocals and doing extended lead solos and trading off riffs with Mountain's Leslie West. The deluxe The Who Sings My Generation is fantastic.
  14. Hey, why not have Roger and Pete tour The Who with PJ as their backing band! That would be amazing. Now that's the best idea I've heard post-Entwistle.
  15. I had to go to bed before Pearl Jam's set, but it re-airs today at 2pm and I'm at work, so at least I'll enjoy music for once, ever so briefly though.
  16. Incubus sounded slightly better than a cover band. For the first time perhaps ever, I'm glad Noel Gallagher has lots of mic time.
  17. So far so fucking good. The Foos ripped a fucking killer "Young Man Blues" and "Bargain" is almost as good with Gaz Coombes from Supergrass and Taylor sounding good on vocals.
  18. I believe Craig Ferguson is the only late night show not in HD.
  19. Ha Ha! I used some discretion when I'm giving you some of my material. Well played.
  20. "Tea & Theatre" is a pared-down acoustic song and "Two Thousand Years" is a decent track from "The Who"'s last album, Endless Wire.
  21. Here's the rundown for tonight's show. I'm really excited about the Foo's set, and I'm only a casual fan of Dave and company. Anyone doing the Who's heaviest song is okay in my books. You'd think The Soundtrack of Our Lives, The International Noise Conspiracy or even The Arctic Monkeys would have been far more suitable to rip through Who tunes than the washed-up and truly awful nu-metal band Incubus. 9PM start on MuchMusic (repeats at 11pm): David Duchovny (introduction) Foo Fighters – “Young Man Blues†Foo Fighters with Gaz Coombes from Supergrass – “Bargain†Rainn Wilson (introducing the Flaming Lips) The Flaming Lips – Medley from “Tommy†Mila Kunis (introducing Incubus) Incubus – “I Can See for Miles†Incubus – “I Can’t Explain†Tenacious D – “Squeeze Box†Sean Penn (introducing Pearl Jam) Pearl Jam – “Love, Reign O’er Me†Pearl Jam – “The Real Me†Adam Sandler (introducing The Who) The Who – “Baba O’Riley†The Who – “The Seeker†The Who – “Who Are You†The Who – “Behind Blue Eyes†The Who – “Two Thousand Years†The Who – “You Better You Bet†The Who – “My Generation†The Who – “Won’t Get Fooled Again†The Who – “Tea & Theatreâ€
  22. It has been shown in HD for at least 2 years, at least with the Buffalo affiliate.
