  1. Many many thanks to Sean & Chris and Jodi & Gideon and BradM for stopping by and enjoying the eve with myself, my hooligan family and the band...we truely appreciate it! Aside from the obvious lack of audience attendees, we had a fun time. The next day at the Sand Road Bluegrass Fest was fantastic...amazing bands and a real good sense of support for the music...with the firends that showed up Sat. eve and the amazing time at Sand Road, it made for a great little trip... May The Blessings Be, Gawpo Giggles
  2. So there was this one time back stage at a Phish show...must have been '97 or '98...Trey sidles up to me and says "Care for a BUMP?"
  3. Things go BUMP in the night... It'd be sweet to see you again Sean! And anyone else that can make the night... Did you get to the Kruger Bro's Sean? Seen those cats here twice and a couple times at Merlefest...damn fine pickin'!!! Gawpo Giggles * - I might be around to see Kevin tonight CoP if you'll be around...
  4. I'm just gonna bump this every few days till we play...I'd really love to see all my long lost Skank friends there if'n they can make it... Cheers, Gawpo Giggles
  5. Yep, I got an itching to bring some hard pickin' home... Doc Gawpo ***Brad, perfectly fine to record! Four players, four part harmonies - bass/dobro/guitar - bass/ guitar/ banjo - bass/ guitar/ mandolin - banjo/ mandolin
  6. Howdy Friends, Well, it looks as if I will be making me way home to the Ottawa Valley stomping grounds and I'll be bringing my little "crabgrass" ensemble w/ me, The Wayside Ramblers. http://www.myspace.com/waysideramblers On the evening of August 18th (Saturday) The Ramblers will be playing a full night of music at Cafe Dekcuf. The cover will be somewhere in the $5.00 (no more but maybe less) range and we'll be playing 3 or 4 sets of Old Tyme, Gospel, Country and Bluegrass music all jumbled together into one heaping helping of "Crabgrass". We'd love to see all you there that can make it and if anyone happens to be in the Cornwall area the following morning, we'll be playing the Sand Road Sugar Camp Bluegrass Festival at 10am for the Gospel hour...we'd love to see Y'all there too! May The Blessings Be, Doc Gawpo Giggles
  7. Oh YES, thats whom I was with Davey HP3... Gawpo Giggles
  8. Well, Toronto was my 5th or 6th time seeing her play and I thought it was a phenomenal show for her. The Dirty Delta Blues were fantastic backing her up and although she may have seemed to struggle, she was still singing amazingly!!! As for the "no encore" thing I think it had more to do with a busy schedule, the 7000 degree temperature in the Phoenix and the lack luster, typical nob Toronto audience... I ran into her and the DDB band in the bar lobby after the show and had a nice little chat (she was staying at the Met where Franti also was and I was there visiting my friend who does sound for Franti)...she was VERY fatigued but really enjoyed herself here... 9. Nice tunes boys! And I guess I'll join in... A while ago my band; The Wayside Ramblers recorded a few tracks live off the floor over at the Boogie Knights...you can hear a few of them at: www.myspace.com/waysideramblers I'm playing banjo on most track and I take the lead on the old traditional "Green Pastures" May The Blessings Be, Gawpo Giggles
  10. About the scantily clad young women, I do believe it was Caleb that dated Paris Hilton for a while...and I think she's a spokes woman for "Show Your Box To The World Ladies" Gawpo Giggles
  11. Jer is indeed still playing with Andrew! The show was fantastic by both artists and the Rufus finale was the most extravagant one I have seen to date...I won't give anything away for those about to see him in Montreal (also Andrew opening) but...WOW WOW WOW!!! Gawpo Giggles
  12. I've seen these cats every time they've been to Toronto but tonight I will be seeing Andrew Rodriguez and Rufus... Although the sound atthe Kool Haus is ASS, these guys are one of the best rock bands going!!! Fantastic songs and a really stellar live show... Gawpo Giggles
  13. I played hockey with his father Hamish for a few years..hard to see the faily go through this... GG
  14. If you click on the option parts of the Bigwave boards you'll see their pricing...I think it ranges from about $240-$280CDN Good pricing... Check out craigslist too...it seems they have some longboards as well... Also, my friend who distributes the Sector 9, GFH, Santa Cruz and Gravity boards will be at the clothing show in Toronto this weekend with some complete decks from some of his companies and they will be very, very cheap as although they are new (never rode before), they are last years models...some might have a few blemish spots too I guess... Gawpo Giggles * I have NO opinion as to whom makes "the best" longboard...just that Sector 9 invented the things...
  15. Santa Cruz is from Santa Cruz and I'm not affiliated with them...Sector 9 is also American and also, I am not affiliated with them...I was trying to help someone out with a substantial savings...I'm not cutting up Bigwave, I've just never been on one and don't want to recommend a shit board (or anything for that matter) to someone when it's gonna be taking $300 or so dollars from their pocket...that being said; I don't think Bigwave is shit by any means...I really don't think anything of them other than their philosophy seems good and they look purdy...but if you've ever been on a longboard, looks and philosophy don't mean nothing...I'm just talking on the things I know... Sorry for the swift jump up the asses...just trying to help Gawpo Giggles
  16. And now that I look at the "links" page of Bigwave boards, I see they are distrubuted by S&J...thats my buddies company so I'd be guessing that he'd be the sales rep for Bigwave too...he's never mentioned them, and with all honesty I've never heard of them and I've been longboarding for about 10yrs now...that being said, the construction and inspiration behind them seems great and they look real purdy too...I just can't comment on a board I've never been on before... Gawpo Giggles edit: I just talked with my buddy and I guess S&J doesn't deal with Bigwave amymore...probably why I've never heard of them...he deals all the longboards for them and has never seen one...they still seem like a good deck though...
  17. not for nothing, but last checked I've been a "skank" longer than most and a Canadian my whole life...cool job though to be the actual person cutting, measuring and fabricating the boards...just wondering why they list their lengths on the website if every order is custom? The choice of trucks, wheels and barrings isn't a "customization"... Gawpo Giggles
  18. I would go with no board company will make a customized board for any joe schmo...EVER...if they do, you'll pay the bucks for it...go with whatever you want...just trying to help out...Sector 9 is THE longboard company afterall but hey... Gawpo Giggles
  19. Hey Dude, My buddy is the national sales rep for Sector 9 longboards and GS as well (Santa Cruz too, but not for 2 or 3 months)...I could arrange so that you could get one VERY cheap compaired to selling prices in stores...instead of over $300 + taxes it'd be around $200 no taxes...lemme know Giggles

make sure you put the times up so we can say hi when we get the chance... May The Blessings Be, Gawpo Giggles
  21. Just as a note...cause I'm picky and shit: Don won the U.S National Fingerstyle Guitar Championships...first in 1988 and then 8 years later in 1996 making him the only person to ever win it twice... May The Blessings Be, Gawpo Giggles
  22. Thanks sooo much guys...Sharon, as soon as I hear back from her I'll be in touch... Many thanks, Gawpo Giggles
  23. Hello Ottawa Skanks... I'm trying to reach out and see if anyone knows of any jobs happening in Ottawa...my younger cousin has recently moved there and is in the search...she had a job lined up as a stylist and it ended up being bunk so she's looking again...I'm sure that right now, anything would be helpful... Many many thanks for any suggestions and help!!! May The Blessings Be, Gawpo Giggles
  24. I have ended up in a rather tricky situation as I have been given word YESTERDAY that the home I am to move into at the start of Febuary is not availible any more...Yes, I did have a back-up which also appears to no longer be an option...I am looking on the viewit.ca's and whatnot for Toronto but it is looking ify and I thought I'd see if anyone on here knew of anything. For those that don't know me...um...uh...well... I'm a violin/guitar maker which is my full time job in a music house that I have been employed at for over 2yrs. I also manage the guitar/M.I department there although I have a floor manager under me that tends to most of those duties. I work 6 days a week and usually am away the 7th for more training in guitar construction. I also have a bluegrass band that plays throughout Toronto... Thanks for any help guys, Gawpo Giggles    -oh yha, the life of a luthier is not very much of a lucrative one...I can afford at the very most to spend $750-800/month...I'd prefer to be away from downtown...presently I'm in the Annex which is nice but I've been closer to little Italy and that area and like it too...
