  1. The show that that got me hooked into the Ottawa Jam scene and introduced me to many of you good folks.
  2. OK, if anyone else needs a ticket for tonight, let me know.
  3. Ollie, I probably have an extra for tonight, get in touch.
  4. So was I the only one on the board to check out Yahowha 13? Pretty cool, I thought, although a bit ear piercing at times. The Church was awesome.
  5. Fiona saw this pic and said it looks like you, Sharon.
  6. ha ha awesome!!! I've got a niche!! and yeah.. I make my funk the pfunk' date=' I want to get funked up![/quote'] Makes me think of a line on the Motherpage, a P-Funk fan site, where there is a discography section and they are explaining the review system and it says "Please remember that even lower rated albums rate highly when compared with unfunk."
  7. Thanks so much for all the info, thatpatguy, I loves me the P-Funk and was glad to learn more about them.
  8. Actually 2 songs, Somethin' Stank and Hard As Steel.
  9. Heresy! I'm not very good at identifying many of the thousand or so P-Funk long timers by sight, although I do know that Gary Shider (diaper guy) and I believe Lige Curry (bass player way at the back) were there, but for me the big news was that Michael Hampton (rainbow wig/flying V player) was on stage last night, unlike the last time they came to town. Of my Top 11 List of all time favorite guitar players (it's one higher!), 9 are still alive and , before last night, I had seen 8 of those guitarists play live. Michael Hampton last night completed the set, and I was not dissappointed (apart from the fact they didn't do Maggot Brain, and I understand that there were time considerations).
  10. Best part of Van Der Graaf happened just after you left. They were playing "Sleepwalkers" and there is a bit where is quiets down for a stretch and it is just Hugh Banton making swirly sounds on his organ. Well, if an act on a side stage at BluesFest quiets down, what always happens is sound from the main stage starts to drift in. Well, what drifted in was the sound of Jeff Beck's keyboard player making his own swirly sounds, different from Hugh Banton but it went perfectly with what was being played. Peter Hammil (VDGG lead singer) was damn near busting a gut laughing, pointing towards the main stage then giving a thumbs up. A rare moment of inter-stage serendipity. Black Keys were cool but I left part way through (the trifecta of sore feet, unfamiliar music and being surrounded by strangers who were all much younger than I am) and went over to the Subway stage where I caught the last chunk of Blue King Brown from Australia ... they were great, high energy and very fun and danceable. I hope they bring them back next year.
  11. Main thing I remember about him is seeing Guided By Voices shortly after they appeared on his show and Robert Pollard called him a fat fucking prick.
  12. Van Der Graaf Generator were awesome ... thanks, Oliver and Christine for keeping me company with my weird ass prog rock before heading over to the main stage. Only things missing : no encore and they didn't play Childlike Faith In Childhood's End.
  13. I'm more interested in seeing Johnny Depp as the Riddler in the next Batman flick. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure I will see this, I just prefer Burton's original work than Burton getting his fingerprints as deep as he can on somebody else's creation.
  14. Guess she has the two mixed up, it's the Market end of the Fest that is from 9-13.
  15. Thanks , AD. The possible presence of Michael Hampton now throws the biggest disruptive question mark into my schedule this summer.
  16. AD, Have you any idea when P-Funk will be playing?
  17. I quite enjoy the fritatas at Atomic Rooster, Bank near Somerset.
  18. Fiona and I are moving into our new place tomorrow, any helpful vibes for a smooth transition would be appreciated.
  19. I heard Sebastian Bach was first in line for that gig. If it's true that Paul Rodgers is gone from Queen, I think it's for the best and will give him more time to be Paul Rodgers. Paul is one of my 6 favorite male vocalists, and I love Queen, but I was never entirely sold on that combination.
  20. I hear Queen are now looking for a new vocalist ...
  21. So, first I throw a hissy fit, now I kill the thread ... nice work, Reg.
  22. not so much a time limit, more like, if someone takes the 12th pick in one theme, they might want to be sure they have a new theme in mind and try to make that the next post in the thread - just to keep things moving. no biggie, glad you got your turn eventually! Fair enough ... tantrum over
  23. Ah, so I take it there is an official rule for that ... how long is the time limit? 12 hours? No , couldn't be, it was less than that ... how long, then? You know, just for those of us who work in places where we can't post.
