  3. In true tribute to his work, let us all make sure to laugh at an inappropriate moment some time during the next week.
  4. But what about Carlene Carter, who is June's daughter from a different marriage? (For that matter, Roseanne is Johnny's daughter from his first marriage.) Just wondering about the exact outline of the rules.
  5. 342. Songs by artists whose daughters have gone on to be notable musicians or singers **No family may be mentioned more than once, unless going from parent> daughter and then from daughter> (grand)daughter... so you can't pick a song by June Carter because Roseanne and Johnny have already been used.** 1. Johnny Cash - I Walk The Line (Roseanne Cash) 2. Willy Nelson - Playmate (duo with his daughter) 3. Ravi Shankar - Raga Marwa (Norah Jones) 4. Frank Sinatra - My Way (Nancy Sinatra) 5. Nat King Cole - Unforgettable (Natalie Cole) 6. Loudon Wainwright III - Rufus Is a Tit Man (Martha Wainwright) 7. Ken Whiteley - Listening 8. The King - Blue Suede Shoes (The Princess) 9. 6. That's Sam, The American Eagle. Aloha, Brad "You are all WEIRDOS!"
  7. Didn't see this posted, John Rutsey, the original drummer for Rush (played on their first, eponymous album) recently passed away from a heart attack, possibly related to complications from diabetes (the reason he left the band). Kind of a footnote in Canadian music history, but Rush was a fun, rockin' album.
  8. I heard it was just going to be on regular DVD, not just BlueRay.
  9. I think we need to nip this thread in the bud.
  10. Thanks, chief, downloading as we speak.
  11. Does anybody here know how I could get/download a DVD of Sunshine Daydream, the unreleased movie of the Grateful Dead's 1972/08/27 show?
  12. Thanks a lot, everyone, and yes, I have listened to 5/8/77 recently ... sorry, Hux, it isn't everyone else coming in late, Bobby comes in early
  13. I hear that they have been doing that for the last 17 years or so.
  14. Wow, now that is a world class heavyweight champion Dark Star. Immediately onto my list of favorites ... and it didn't even happen on the 27th Other notable highlights at the Truckin' and Eyes on the Bonus Disk.
  15. pt' date=' You and I have seemed to have pretty similar musical tastes in the past, but that is just plain scary.[/quote'] hey! I never claimed to have good taste! ok, well maybe I did. but not when i was a youngun'. i also wore out my Snoopy and the Red Baron album because - apparently - glueing three pennies to the stylus arm, to prevent skipping, isn't good for the machine. who would have ever known that!?! I was referring to that, big guy One need never make excuses for liking Jim Croce at any age.
  16. Happy Birthday, Frugal Gourmet.
  17. pt, You and I have seemed to have pretty similar musical tastes in the past, but that is just plain scary.
  18. One of the few questions about my childhood that I recall well enough to answer : Big Bad Leroy Brown by Jim Croce
  19. They're still good live but I find it hard to get behind them as a going concern as frankly Jonny Van Zant is an abysmal lyricist, particularly compared to his brother. Sadly even the live show has to have taken a hit since Hughie Thomason, one of the best later additions, passed on not long after leaving the band.
  20. Split Enz! Awesome! I got to see Crowded House on the Together Alone tour but would have loved to see the Enz. First show : Yes, 90125 tour, Ottawa Ex Grandstand, 1984 First Club Show : Severed Heads with MC 900 Ft Jesus & DJ Zero ... the double shot of Marillion was shortly after that.
  21. That particular show when it hit Ottawa was at the Ex Grandstand and was The Cure, Love And Rockets and Shelleyan Orphan (no Pixies).
  22. I always thought The Who and The Grateful Dead were a bit strange together. Also The Jam and Blue Oyster Cult (for that matter, Japan and Blue Oyster Cult).
