  1. Side note : there is a whimsical hoax floating about that there is more bonus stuff hidden in a secret compartment in the lining of the box. When you finally get the set, please don't tear the box apart trying to find it, somebody is just messing with us.
  2. Yeah, I'm in the same boat with both you guys ... I checked the website to see if there was any news on a shipping date and found people talking about having got it. It was in the comments section I found they weren't e-mailing shipping information. Guess there really isn't anything to do at this point but to wait, I don't really have time to chase down Rhino for information.
  3. Some people have received theirs already, still waiting for mine with bated breath.
  4. It's a bad day for songwriters, Nick Ashford also passed away.
  5. I am a huge fan of Suede, but this is just too awesome. Not sure if it quite counts, but I love the story of Peter Grant going up to Bob Dylan at some record company shindig and saying, "Hello, I'm Peter Grant, I'm the manager of Led Zeppelin", and Dylan replying, "Look, buddy, do you see me going up to you and telling you my problems?"
  6. Pro-wrestler CM Punk tweeted the following : Tackleberry and now Hightower, yet Mahoney still walks the earth...
  7. Tackleberry was the first to go, David Graf passed away in 2001 .
  8. Weird question , but did anybody check out Nick Jonas' set? Not something I would normally take notice of, but my eye was caught when I saw on the website that a chunk of his band used to play with Prince in the NPG. Can anybody bear witness?
  9. I saw Belew with the Slick siblings a few years ago at BluesFest ... awesome show. Glad to see he is touring again.
  10. /TheMizMode on "Really? REALLY?" /TheMizMode off
  11. *spit take* My two favorite songs of theirs are "Three Days" and "Then She Did" and I always figured there was no way in hell they would play them. When they did "Three Days" I felt lucky. Now I am pissed.
  12. Changing of vocal lines tends to happen when vocalists get older and can't hit the notes anymore. I agree that it was confusing that they left early, but really there wasn't much more they could do. We are really talking about a band with 2 albums to draw on (didn't want to hear anything from their early independent live thing, or the reunion album, or any new stuff they might have been working on).
  13. FRICK!!!! Hope he gets better, but still, ... FRICK!!!!
  14. I guess I was the only one who didn't make it to the evening sets, my day was just too jammed. Was I the only one here who made it to Library Voices? I thought they were awesome.
  15. And a reminder to everyone in Ottawa to check them out tonight at BluesFest.
  16. At the National Bank stage, poor Mark Kozelek was getting hammered by sound from two different directions. That's twice he has appeared where that has happened. "You got any Asians in Canada? This is a really white audience."
  17. From their website : We helped to raise over $106,000 for Haiti relief and support. Now we are helping to solve problems with poverty, long-term, through the KANPE Foundation. KANPE works to break the cycle of poverty in Haiti by helping the poorest families to become financially independent through literacy, money management, housing, farming, health care, and nutrition. Arcade Fire will generously match your donation dollar for dollar so your $1 turns into $2! They did state at the presentation that the donations were going to KANPE, not the brothers themselves.
  18. To keep ticketless people from lining up on the sidewalk and getting a free show. It didn't work, they just lined up at the War museum. And yes, Bootsy was great. Finally got a chance to see Bernie Worrell (I will take their word for it that it was Bernie Worrell, I couldn't see his head for the keyboards).
  19. Sadly I am only going to see part of this show ... I loved them in my early 20s and, unlike a lot of music I was into then, their songs still hold up for me now, but Bootsy is Bootsy .
  20. Songs New Rider listens to in the parking lot while waiting for friends, after getting kicked out of a concert: 1. Rattled by the Rush- Pavement 2. The Waiting - Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers 3. Lonely Boy - Andrew Gold 4. There There - Radiohead 5. Wanna Be Startin Something - Michael Jackson 6. 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall - New Roots 7. Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting - Elton John
  21. Also, Fiona is playing a gig tonight at Umi Cafe.
  22. Wild Man Fischer also passed away ... Good night, Larry.
  23. Metric have given good show the times I have gotten to see them, and there isn't really much else pulling me at that time ... are Imaginary Cities any good?
  24. Right during Gomez ... BluesFest organizers mess with me again.
  25. The Colin Hay? As in, Men At Work Colin Hay? By all accounts, he gives an awesome solo show.
