  2. Just wanted to say that I think those posters are some of the best gig posters I've ever seen. Does Jeff do professional work?
  3. That's pretty solid financial advice in general. If you can't afford it, don't buy it.
  4. Food Forum please. Oh... BARKING.
  5. Cool! Thanks for the info.
  6. Tyler Kealey played a verse and chorus from Billie Jean. Girl Talk sampled Thriller and some other Jacksons stuff. I also heard some other band playing MJ while walking by the Subway stage. I'd say the MJ tributes were plentiful and it was nice to see.
  7. Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
  8. Hey jonyak, if you don't mind, how much was your band paid for the gig? I'm curious what the pay scale is like for opening acts, especially the local ones. Any other tidbits you feel like sharing from your experience would be great too! Glad you had a great time and congratulations on the gig. Was just too early for me to make it out.
  9. They were probably hurting... those boys gave giver a whole new name in Toronto on Friday night. Chugging JD outta the bottle and kicking a stage full of broken beer bottles around. At the end of the night John tried to crowd surf to the back of the room and got dropped so hard i thought for a split second someone should see if he was ok... until he jumped up, yelling 'FUCK YEAH'!! Sorry that they were dissapointing to you Ottawians... they were the furthest thing from in Toronto! That would give credence to my buddy's story about running into the drummer after the show in Ottawa and him being extremely incoherent.
  10. My Top 5 in alphabetical order: Dead Weather, The Drive By Truckers Girl Talk Kiss Okkervil River
  11. Almost forgot to mention the guy I saw get thrown out last night. He was up near the front dancing to The Dead Weather. Now he'd obviously had a few but wasn't stumbling into people and seemed composed when security gave him his first warning. A few minutes later he started dancing again and was given the boot. Brutal. A friend of mine was refused beer service because his allergies were acting up and his eyes were red. Kind of sickens me the praise that Mark Monaghan was giving security in a wrap up article I read in the Sun today. Lynn Saxberg wrote a piece in the Citizen last week describing them as being "not heavy handed". It's so frustrating to read stuff like that when it doesn't jive at all with what I witnessed.
  12. Yeah but you cheated... you didn't drink!
  13. The Dead Weather were great last night. Definitely my surprise band of the fest. Thank god it's all over!
  14. Reminds me of Kenny Perry almost winning that other major. Heartbreak!
  15. Yeah, that was shitty for him. I hope he pulls it off too.
  16. I sighted KevO last night! My Bluefest experience is complete.
  17. It was my first time seeing/hearing Drive By Truckers and I thought they were great. I couldn't tear myself away for much of their set but figured I had to go see the Skynyrd encores. Got to the main stage at about 10:40 only to hear the last few minutes of Freebird and then they were done. Boo-urns.
  18. Anyone notice a lot of under-pour on the draft beer this year? Friggin' cheapskates. It's BLUESFEST!
  19. Dude, you saw me too. Why don't I get a sighting thread?
  20. Ah, ok. I pretty much got what I expected then. All I was wondering is if anyone else got a little bored by the end. It's BLUESFEST!
  21. This coming from a guy that endorses and loves both a Genesis cover band and the new Beverly Hills 90210. Are you drinking at work again?
  22. what I saw was facking killer. what were you expecting? it's BLUESFEST! What does that mean? Anyway, are you saying you didn't stick around for the whole set? I just thought it got a little tedious by the end.
