  1. I'm listening to Slayer all day today. Jeff wrote the music (and some of the lyrics) to Slayer's most heralded songs: Angel of Death Raining Blood South of Heaven War Ensemble Seasons in the Abyss just to name the obvious ones. His contributions to Slayer and thrash metal cannot be overstated. Reign in Peace indeed!
  2. Great game!! God bless peds.

  4. Is one ("an") ambien strong enough to do that to a seasoned veteran?
  5. I count 5 Habs fans in this thread.
  6. Has anyone been randomly checking Ticketmaster.ca? I just did and almost all the 400 sections and section 305 have tickets for sale.

    Easy Beer Bread

I'm always on the look out for easy bread recipes and this is the first one that looked so brain dead simple that I actually tried it. I went with the 5 ingredient option since I didn't have self-rising flour. Recipe: 3 Ingredient Beer Bread And here's how my bread turned out: Tastes great! Will make fantastic toast. I used a bottle of Kichesippi Blonde for the beer.
  8. Some of you might have seen pictures of a man in a cowboy hat helping a man with a missing leg... here's an interview with him... wait until you get to the part about why he was at the race in the first place. Warning: the image at the top of the page is quite graphic. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/04/16/carlos-arredondo-boston-marathon-hero-in-a-cowboy-hat-on-the-bombs.html
  9. Jalapeno peppers grow surprisingly well for our climate, assuming your still around the Ottawa area. We always have more than we can handle at the end of the season.
  10. Well if you really want me to dissect a quote that is 3 and a half years old then here you go. What I'm saying here is that I have no problem getting good tickets even with the existence of scalpers in 2009. My speculation was wrong here. I hadn't imagined what types of measures would be put it place to remove scalpers from the pool. I didn't see the "catch". "entitled"? In fact I'm advocating for the opposite demographic. Nice find though!
  11. How much is ticket insurance and what does that buy you? I don't know where that 95% figure comes from. All I would rather do is compete against the scalpers.
  12. Ok but say you're a parent and you want to buy Stones tickets for your kids that don't have credit cards. And not every adult has a credit card either and it shouldn't be a barrier to live music. And maybe you get sick and can't go to the show and can't even give your tickets away. There are many scenarious that don't fit.
  13. Yeah I don't think anyone is questioning Ticketmaster's right to enforce its policy but that the policy is short-sighted and comes with its own negative side effects that might be worse than the problem that is trying to be solved. I'm no fan of scalpers but past experience tells me I was paying less money for better tickets, and spending less time procuring said tickets, before all these measures came into place.
  14. Damn that sucks DevO! While these anti-scalping measures sound nice, in practice they can be quite a pain in the ass. We ran into this last year for Iron Maiden at the Bell Centre. No tickets were issued for GA floor, instead we had to lineup an hour before doors and present the credit card used to make the purchase. In practice this meant standing in a line that snaked for about a kilometer and missed about 15 minutes of Alice Cooper. People at the back of the line probably missed his whole set. Thanks and all but I prefer the old method. And I was thinking how many parents bought tickets for their kids and are going to be completely screwed by this.

    wow.

Does anyone know if the CONS campaign ads from 2006 are anywhere online? Because at the time transparency was far and away their #1 campaign issue from what I can remember. I search for them on YouTube occassionally but nothing comes up.
  18. Wow. I still feel some small amount of shame for paying $350 to see them on the floor in Montreal in Jan 2006 (7 years ago!). What made it worse is that I had a better time seeing them from the back of a football field a few months earlier in Ottawa for a whole lot less. Anyway, hopefully they'll do a PPV or two on this tour. I enjoyed the one in December.
