  1. I think it was my third time seeing P&A, and I enjoyed their set (which an hour and ten minutes, including the encore; I think the show was over around 11:00pm) a lot more than the other times I've seen them. Berithan Berio was also really good, and wasn't just the Barr brothers: Sarah Page played harp. I didn't keep a set list, but there were some slip tunes ("Suffocation Keep", "D'Gary"), some Brad Barr tunes ("Sarah Through The Wall"), some old blues, etc. Aloha, Brad
  2. Corrected; thanks! Aloha, Brad
  3. With the gorgeous weather, and having decided to stay in town this weekend, I'm looking to spend some time and have a meal (lunch or dinner) and some beers on a patio somewhere on Saturday. Is anybody else interested? (Or maybe lunch at the Wellington Gastropub, then wander downtown for some patio beers. Whatever.) Aloha, Brad
  4. Thanks, AD, I didn't know about that. flipzoso's going to video of P&A, and I was planning on tagging along to do audio, but having Berithan Berio on the bill seals the deal for me. Aloha, Brad
  5. I just saw an ad on TV for a movie being released on Sept. 25: Trailer Park Boys - Countdown to Liquor Day Aloha, Brad

    BEER!!

I've tried it, and don't remember it as being that distinctive (compared to, say, the Muskoka Hefe-Weissbier), but it's nice. I've bought a few cans of it at the LCBO at Carling and Woodroffe. I've got a bottle of in the fridge right now, waiting for quaff o'clock sometime this weekend. Aloha, Brad
  7. No, it's not The Hawk. Ron Hawkins is a singer/songwriter, and has worked with Lowest Of The Low and The Rusty Nails. http://www.zaphodbeeblebrox.com/index.php?release=hawkins Aloha, Brad

  10. No, I didn't start taping shows until a couple of months after it happened. Aloha, Brad
  11. French trumpeter Erik Truffaz is bringing his "4tet" band to The Rex in Toronto on Saturday, Sept. 5. I saw Truffaz several years back in Ottawa, and it was a mind-melter: down-ish-tempo, trippy stuff, with that kind of low-and-slow-burn intensity to it. If I were in Toronto, this show would be at the top of the list of things to do. http://www.myspace.com/truffaz Aloha, Brad
  12. I have "Stickymidget - Listen!" on audio CD if needed, as well as one that hasn't been mentioned yet: "Square Yardage Of Stock Footage". Aloha, Brad
  13. Ignatieff's main point is that the Conservatives haven't been doing their jobs, especially when it comes to improving the economy, getting the infrastructure money out the door, etc. Aloha, Brad

  16. It also looks like Vic is OK with being recorded and having recordings uploaded to the LMA: http://www.archive.org/details/VicChesnutt Aloha, Brad
  17. I did a search here, and didn't find any mention of it, but there's a new supergroup consisting of John Paul Jones (of Led Zeppelin fame), Dave Grohl (of Nirvana and Foo Fighters), and Josh Homme (of Queens Of The Stone Age). They're called Them Crooked Vultures, and are going on tour starting in October, including Aloha, Brad

  19. I just saw a listing for Derek Trucks Band (live recordings of which can be found here) on Saturday, November 7 in Montreal at Metropolis. I think tickets are available now. Aloha, Brad
