  1. CAKE tonight! Aloha, Brad
  2. What are people excited for on today's bill? Marc Charron (Blacksheep Stage, 6:15pm) is always fun, and I definitely want to check out Ice Cube (Bank of America Stage, 7:00pm), and Toots & the Maytals (Hard Rock Cafe Stage, 9:30pm) looks fun. Does anyone have any other recommendations? Aloha, Brad
  3. Trischka just gave approval to have live recordings of him uploaded to the Live Music Archive: http://www.archive.org/details/TonyTrischka (There are only two recordings at the moment, though.) Aloha, Brad
  4. is that one of them there market shows? Yes, it's at Capital Music Hall. http://www.bluesfestinthebyward.ca/eventsbyday/2009/07/13.html Aloha, Brad
  5. A big boo-urns to whoever decided to re-schedule Land Of Talk, and then un-re-schedule it. I was looking forward to giving them another try, and I especially wanted to see Andrew Barr playing drums with them, but I ended up missing their set. Aloha, Brad
  6. New Mastersounds are also playing this afternoon. Aloha, Brad
  7. I'm aiming to get there for Brothers Chaffey at 6pm, then probably Holy F*ck. I might head to the market for George Clinton after that. Aloha, Brad
  8. I just scanned the schedule again, and Flash Lightnin' at 6:30pm caught my eye. Does anybody know them? Aloha, Brad
  9. I don't have any specific plans before Jeff Beck, so I'm just going to wander between stages before he starts. Aloha, Brad

    Velvet blog?

It looks like the most recent upgrade to jambands.ca included the addition of a new blogging feature. If you go to your user profile page (mine is here; Velvet, yours is here), you can add "Blog Entry" postings, which are done just like regular topic postings (e.g., same codes for embedding images, etc.) which can then be viewed by other users when they visit your user profile's page. Aloha, Brad
  13. Happy Day, 'dinghy! Aloha, Brad
  14. It's The Bad Plus (7:30pm) and Al Di Meola (9:00pm) tonight, and courtesy of Booche, I've got a ticket. Anyone else showing up tonight? Aloha, Brad
  15. My tickets for the 10th and 15th have been spoken for, so I have one for the 13th available, and will very likely have one for the 11th. Aloha, Brad
  16. I can hook you up for the 10th, Debob. Other tickets I should have available for purchase include July 11*, July 13, and July 15. Aloha, Brad * I'm getting a media pass for July 11 via Matisyahu's people, who want his show recorded, which I assume means I won't need my actual ticket, but I'm not 100% sure of that.
  17. The DoneFors list that they're playing at the fest (they're not in the performers list, but they're in the schedule), and they're worth checking out, in my opinion. Aloha, Brad
  18. I don't know which acts would be obvious, but my list would include: Serena Ryder Hawksley Workman Kevin Breit and Folkalarm Mr. Something Something (check out their bike-powered sound system) Bob Wiseman Aloha, Brad
  19. Solitary Ottawan with soft drinks, beer, wine (red and white), and steak seeks fun environment in which to enjoy it later this afternoon. Boy, I miss THAT PLACE... Aloha, Brad
  20. My recording of The Sunday, June 28, 2009 show by Yonder Mountain String Band at Revolution Hall in Troy, NY is now available for download at http://www.archive.org/details/ymsb2009-06-28.superlux.flac16 There's also a soundboard source done by another taper that's available at http://www.archive.org/details/ymsb2009-06-28.RevolutionHall.DSBD Enjoy! Aloha, Brad
  21. If anyone's downtown on Friday, July 3 around lunch, guitarist Lucas Haneman's quartet will be playing for free at Confederation Park at noon. I saw Lucas sit in the Wayne Eagles at Avant-Garde Bar, and he impressed me. He's studied with Wayne, and I think is studying under Roddy Elias these days. Aloha, Brad
  22. Last night's show (World Cafe Live, Philadelphia) was a bit weird. The turnout wasn't that great, and they actually had closed off the mezzanine (which is reserved seating) because they hadn't sold enough tickets. It turned out that we bought the only three mezzanine tickets, so they gave us a discount and let us set up wherever we wanted. The crowd grew as the night progressed, but didn't approach the feel of either the Boston or NYC shows. Musically, though, The Slip ripped it the fug up. The set list was in line with the other nights, with "Reddish Moon" and "Let There Be Horses" being the main surpises of the night; the "Get Me With Fuji" was the best of the four times they've played it this run, I think. YMSB tonight! Aloha, Brad
