I saw Vandermark 5 in Montreal last night, and it was jaw-droppingly good. I guess it's jazz (veering out into avant-garde and even noise territory), but it's not free jazz, as it has some seriously complicated composed parts to it. If you like that kind of thing, and can make it to Supermarket tonight (I think doors are at 8pm or 9pm), and can handle the $20 cover (for two sets), this band is well worth it. It's not a danceable kind of band, though, more of a sit down and be amazed kind of band. Aloha, Brad

I was grocery shopping today, and bought a boneless marlin steak, about 250g, a bit less than an inch thick. Does anyone have any tips or recipe ideas for how to cook it? My basic plan would be to season it with salt and pepper and fry it in a bit of vegetable oil (with diced onion and mixed veg) until the centre of it was almost done, but I'm interested in what other options there might be. I'll probably do some potatoes (cubed, boiled, then fried/browned) with it. Aloha, Brad
