  1. Excitement! Thanks for posting this.
  2. That's like me and my American citizenship. If anything though it makes me look like a bad American in that I've never exploited that citizenship in any way except as a travel document going into the States.
  3. Olivia has dual Chinese and Canadian Citizenship. Maybe she should also be told to get right the fuck out of politics?
  4. Where's the obligatory jab at corduroy blazers? And lay off my kindling physique fatty!
  5. It can get a little hazy whether we're talking about Jews, Israel or the holocaust. Fortunately Iran's Head of State has made his stance on all three quite clear: Iran's President says Israel's days are numbered and from the same article:
  6. I mailed your aunt my slip ticket and she sent me a sexy photo!
  7. Good shoes are worthwhile owning. I have only two pairs of shoes and both were over $150 and both are in great shape. If you received it as a gift and are uncomfortable with the value you could trade them in for two pairs of still very good shoes. But if you like them I would overlook the cost an know that in all likelihood you have a pair of long-lasting shoes of good quality. If they're longlasting they're less likely to end up in a landfill.
  8. Somebody had to write this, and it might as well be me. I haven't seen "Brokeback Mountain," nor do I have any intention of seeing it. In fact, cowboys would have to lasso me, drag me into the theater and tie me to the seat, and even then I would make every effort to close my eyes and cover my ears. And I love gay people. Hey, I've got gay acquaintances. Good acquaintances, who know they can call me anytime if they had my phone number. I'm for gay marriage, gay divorce, gay this and gay that. I just don't want to watch two straight men, alone on the prairie, fall in love and kiss and hug and hold hands and whatnot. That's all. Is that so terrible? Does that mean I'm homophobic? And if I am, well, then that's too bad. Because you can call me any name you want, but I'm still not going to that movie. To my surprise, I have some straight friends who've not only seen the movie but liked it. "One of the best love stories ever," one gushed. Another went on, "Oh, my God, you completely forget that it's two men. You in particular will love it." "Why me?" "You just will, trust me." But I don't trust him. If two cowboys, male icons who are 100 percent all-man, can succumb, what chance to do I have, half- to a quarter of a man, depending on whom I'm with at the time? I'm a very susceptible person, easily influenced, a natural-born follower with no sales-resistance. When I walk into a store, clerks wrestle one another trying to get to me first. My wife won't let me watch infomercials because of all the junk I've ordered that's now piled up in the garage. My medicine cabinet is filled with vitamins and bald cures. So who's to say I won't become enamored with the whole gay business? Let's face it, there is some appeal there. I know I've always gotten along great with men. I never once paced in my room rehearsing what to say before asking a guy if he wanted to go to the movies. And I generally don't pay for men, which of course is their most appealing attribute. And gay guys always seem like they're having a great time. At the Christmas party I went to, they were the only ones who sang. Boy that looked like fun. I would love to sing, but this weighty, self-conscious heterosexuality I'm saddled with won't permit it. I just know if I saw that movie, the voice inside my head that delights in torturing me would have a field day. "You like those cowboys, don't you? They're kind of cute. Go ahead, admit it, they're cute. You can't fool me, gay man. Go ahead, stop fighting it. You're gay! You're gay!" Not that there's anything wrong with it. (Larry David appears in the HBO series ''Curb Your Enthusiasm.'')
  9. I'd like to see their response to, say, Israel hosting a conference to debate the historical evidence for Muhammad and the events detailed in the Qur'an. Aloha, Brad How about this: "Palestinians: an ethnic minority or a bunch of displaced arabs clinging to an identity that presents them as hard done by?"
  10. I nominate this as your most cracked-out post ever.
  11. I had to laugh when he finished explaining his Western Canada stance and asked Peter "It's a good plan isn't it?". Kind of like the brown-noser in your grade 5 homeroom. Otherwise yeah I think he did a fine job.
  12. Pretty cheap. I might check this out on Saturday. I love Bryson and I haven't heard Jon Bartlett on his own, only as part of other bands.
  13. Sorry Mouse that's too far away. So Pho Bo Ga 3 may have booths or have karaoke? Anywhere else?
  14. Need some urgent help here. We have a bunch of people who want to do Karaoke tomorrow but Shanghai is only SAturday. They can book it for parties but we don't have quite that many people. Are there any Karaoke bars in Centretown? The ones with booths?
  15. I frickin' love the Slip man they are rock Gods.
  16. I saw the ad and read about this on Kelp's mailing list. I think it's great and yeah it couldn't have happened to nicer guys. A 5-spot says the Acorn will be next. Well, they're going to be "next" for all sorts of good things but next for commercial soundtrack is what I mean.
  17. I should add: Some of her photos border on medical textbook explicitness.
  18. I'll see your Victoria's Secret show and raise you Zoe Wilder's nudie shots (THE FOLLOWING LINK IS NOT SAFE FOR WORK!) http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r152/zoewilder/

I walked past Ignatieff and wife last night heading down Sparks street. He appeared very pensive and sombre. He is also surprisingly tall.
  20. Their version of accountability seems like nothing more than extra treasury board signatures on contribution agreements. yeah, the whole placed is locked DOWN with that extra hancock!
  21. And there's Margaret Wente. Whether she's left or right she is always a fuckhead.
  22. Pilate? Honestly? I like this list: I can't get the title track of Crane Wife out of my head.
  23. Fuck I can't decide if that's cool or atrocious. But congratulations either way.
  24. I did my PADI about 10 years ago but haven't been diving in about 5. I was spoiled the last time around though having done some amazing wall dives off the coast of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. Coming back from tht to a wreck dive in tobermory was a shock, though that was fun in it's own right. I just couldn't see more than 5 feet in front of me.
  25. The sound is good but for better or for worse I peg it as very jambandesque. I mean that though, for better or for worse. I haven't seen you live before. I think singing is great but make sure there's a good singer in your group and don't settle on someone in your group if they honestly can't do something great with their voice. Find an outside body to fill the shoes if your heart is set on singing.
