  1. Oh man, that show in 99, the crowd was looking like my avatar. I actually had a laser hit me in the head that night too.
  2. We did 99 and 2000, yes. And I remember the lasers not happening the 2nd year, and me not being as wasyed on mushrooms as the first one. Plus, the guys who filmed it didn't come the first year. I see some gear there I wish I still had....
  3. This blew me away. Not sure if this was from 99 or 2000, but it's pretty funny. Especially if you were there. ................... http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=IPbE1Q3ZE0I http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=jccp10BKIhs http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=fgpQMtVuC1g http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=H4_Kq6oe7WA http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=LnVcQW-R-YY

    San Francisco?

I ate at a KILLER sushi place at the corner of sacramento and polk called Sushi Rock. Ate there twice in two days.... While I'm sure there's boatloads of good sushi, this one comes recommended. http://www.sushirocksf.com/
  5. A friend of mine did a tour through the US with jason isbell tour managing the opener... can't remember who it was though. He had great things to say about those guys... looking forward to seeing them. As for the Dead... that's what they're charging. If you wanna see them, you gotta pay it. Music costs money to bring around the country, especially large scale shows like that. Remember that part in Festival Express where the concert goers are protesting and crying over not being able to get into the festival for free?? Same thing. Times change, and they're not the Grateful Dead.
  6. I use this program. never had a problem with it. I downloaded a cracked torrent and have used it for about a year on my PC. http://www.imtoo.com/ipod-computer-transfer.html
  7. This will be an acoustic show!! Warming up for the Glen Gould gigs in TO at the end of this week. I havne't been to the Casbah in a while... can't wait!
  8. I got hit. Our power was only out for about 10 hours... but it was still long enough to get cold cold cold. Our heat took a while to kick back in though. I love blackouts.
  9. Sweet! Always good to play with those lads.
  10. Is this show still on? Is Lee's open? They were right in the blackout area...
  11. You ever tried trimming a beard with a disposable razor?? Come onnnn... impossible. Throw lawnmowers. Lightly.
  12. 10ish! Being a double bill, bnb will be on early so both bands can get a decent set length. See y'all tonight!
  13. Reminds me of a time I left for tour years ago in 98, and subletted our place for the summer. A few moths later I ran into one the guys who was living in my house. He told me about the 'orange juice' he'd found in my fridge late one night. He'd got up, figured his roomate wouldn't mind if he took a swig of his carton of Tropicana OJ, which he did.... three big ones and then he felt something hit his lip. He looked inside and saw the mushrooms in floating in there, realized what he'd done, went upstairs and put his headphones on and got ready for the rest of his night. I had mixed up some mushroom tea to bring with me to go see Fear and Loathing in the theatre before I split for tour, brought it back home with me that night, and left it in the fridge when I left. Luckily he was cool with it! Hehe... don't drink your roomate's juice I guess.
  14. I know all the members of BNB should be screamingly drunk by the end of the Fat Cats' set (ah, the joys of playing first!), so expect to see Jer on stage in a purple wig with a toy guitar!
  15. Second show added! First one sold out, so we're doing the 31st as well!
  16. just saw this on craigslist. http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/msg/983106814.html posted today, recently.
  17. BNB. Please please come early enough and tell your friends to come early enough too! Double bill means early show!

    Phish Tourdates

While Trey can leave his home state, he might still have border issues.
  19. http://law.freeadvice.com/intellectual_property/music_law/calculation_royalties.htm I guess I kind of misused the term... but basically an amount paid.
  20. Awesome! I'm all the more excited now.
  21. There's actually a new mechanical that's been introduced recently for session players. I've yet to register myself, but I know that you can get a performance credit now from being simply a session musician. It's something ridiculously small.... but on a hit, it adds up. A drummer friend of mine who played on Kaylan Porter's first single, told me he recently got a cheque for $900, just for being the drummer on that track! As far as SOCAN goes, they issue cheques quarterly, and do track international plays as well. I've actually recieved cheques for Funkin Shoes getting played in Norway! They track audio and video play across the country, and are partnered with US versions as well (ASCAP/BMI). When I get a SOCAN cheque, there's a breakdown in it as to where the money comes from. I've only ever recieved minimal cash from radio play, but we had a song on Fashion Television that really brought in some dough, and also from performance royalties. We've sent in our setlists over the years, and have recieved SOCAN cash, which is collected from the bars, for performing those tunes. With Burt Neilson, we chose to give everyone a writing credit, even though Mike and I were the main writers. So on older songs, former members who were a part of those tunes still collect SOCAN on them. You take a group like the Band, who Levon claims didn't even realize that was a factor to consider. Robbie, being tight with their manager, Albert Grossman, knew this, and made sure his name made it everywhere it possibly could for songwriting. I recently heard that the keyboardist for Procol Harum succesfully sued his bandmates for a major chunk of "A Whiter Shade of Pale" claiming that his intro keyboard line made the song! Or... when KD Lang sued the Stones for their song "Anybody seen my baby" sounding like her tune "Constant Craving" a few years back, they settled out of court and gave KD most or all of the mechanicals from that tune. Her manager at the time (who is now the Trews manager) owned a chunk of her publishing rights, and still gets cheques from the Stones! Smart guy.
  22. I see microkorgs pop up on craiglist all the time. But what I see more, are the Korg MS2000R rack. I own one, and they're pretty much the same sound bank as the microkorg. And they have a vocoder in them.
