What songs will get you through?

Farther on Down the Road- Taj Mahal

Probably the one tune that could lift my spirits no matter the sitch.

Interestingly enough, Jack Johnson has recently added this song to his repetoire, although it sounds absolutely nothing like the original. Probably the first artist ever to cover this one, despite it being freakin amazing.

Saw Chris Brown and Kate Fenner in Guelph last night- really special show even for them. They opened with their new song Resist War (available on www.resistwar.com) and it is a stunningly personal and political tune. They weaved back into it out of Oklahoma Tape Deck at the end of a very sick show. Played a couple of encores then were paused for a moment so I call out Going, Going, Gone which I know Chris plays occasionally- brief discussion and they do it!!!! Must be said that this was a very emotionally charged evening given the state of the world and such.

Oh yeah but the thread isn't Chris and Kate. Songs that get you through.

The Slip - If One Of Us Should Fall

The Slip - Through The Iron Gate (Lazilee)

Talking Heads - Naive Melody

Talking Heads - Once In A Lifetime

The Band - It Makes No Difference

The Band - Ferdinand The Imposter

The Band - In A Station

The Band - Caledonia Mission

Chris Brown/ Kate Fenner - Pigeons

Chris Brown/ Kate Fenner - Snow

Chris Brown/ Kate Fenner - Mountain

(so many other Band and Chris and Kate tunes in regular compelling rotation)

A bit lengthy but actually a pretty accurate list of songs that 'get me through'. A few Jeff and Tim Buckley tunes come to mind, Gram Parsons $1000 Wedding.... Tears Of Rage.... must be more....
