meggo Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 okay... i dont' want to jump the gun and screw myself... but things seem to be looking good for the ottawa job (and del i'm not trying to steal your "moving to ottawa" thunder, i promise!! :... so now i think i should start thinking about where i might live. i just talked to the former spanish teacher, she says i should live with a roommate (otherwise i may be too strapped, ah well). so... a) where could i look for housing in ottawa online, and is there anyone who's looking for a roomie downtown for september? only problem is i'll probably have to nerd out a lot so i can't live in a party house. like i said... i don't want to be presumptuous.. but so far things are looking pretty good. hope hope! ::
Douglas Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 It's a good idea to jump the gun now since students will be returning very soon and scooping up the good ones. There are tonnes of apts for rent right now, so be choosey! And talk 'em down (ie: less rent; 1 free month; yadda, yadda, yadda). I'll see if I can dig up some links for you.
Velvet Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 A friend just told me he's moving out of his place. It's nice, central, and has a nice balcony. I think he said it was $700 a month.
Del Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 the place i'm moving into needs another person (i think...). maybe too much partying for what you're looking for... get ahold of jonyak on here for details (its CHEAP!)
Booche Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 And, the Understatement Of The Year award goes to: "maybe too much partying for what you're looking for..."
Douglas Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 hahahahaha! hell ya Bouchard! too much partying fo sho! ("What's a girl like you sleeping on a porch like this???" - Velvet) I was talking to a client at work today about "those parties!" (btw - Punk: he (Tim) knows your nickname now! I explained that we use to call you PEI Punk, but it got cut to just Punk...so now I'm gonna start calling HIM PEI PunkMaster!!! hahahahaha!!!)

meggo Posted August 5, 2004 Author Report Posted August 5, 2004 thanks people... i'm not sure what my price range is yet but i'm thinking $650 is as much as i can pay. and del, hahah, thanks for the offer but i have a funny feeling that your place might be a little too busy for me.
Im going home Donny Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 dudette if living on your own is preferable Hull is where its at......lots of affordable places-just gotta poke around and watch out for slum lords.good luck
meggo Posted August 5, 2004 Author Report Posted August 5, 2004 cool... do you think hull would be too far away? i would be teaching in gloucester. it's only about a 12 minute drive from downtown.velvet the one you mentioned sounds good, too... do you happen to know if that includes anything? (always the optimist!) i have a good buddy that lives on cartier and macdonald, right near the city hall, he has a bachelor for about $650. thanks again.
Velvet Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 I don't know if it's inclusive, but I'll find out. If you had a choice of a bachelor for $650 or this place for $700, I assure, the answer is clear. Definitely haggle too. I saved $50 a month with one question.
Sunshine Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 Meggo - glad to hear you're coming to town!!! This town's always looking for more ladies (so they tell me)! I'll PM our number - if there's anything we can do - just buzz. My move went smoothly, so I have no doubt yours will too!!
elemeno Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 first delhead now meggo??? i'm going out for a bowl. :: ::
AdamH Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 You could score a one-bedroom apartment in my building for about your price range. Your money goes further living in Hull but look at all the sketch-cases that live there
thatpatguy Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 oh too bad.. I just rented the bachelor that I had available.. nice and somewhat central.. in a jamband friendly house oh well.. sorry man.. still sending you the vibes though
