Ms.Huxtable
That's funny I was just thinking of pickles. I guess I was thinking more along the lines of How To Tickle His Pickle, but hey, damn close!
gentlemonkey
strubs are amazing. But I beg of you, some day pick up a jar of "bubbies".. they are like Strubs, but crunchier and zippier.. so good. They are in the refridgerated section as well, and are a little expensive, but very VERY tasty.
Ms.Huxtable
That's the kind that you put in my ceasar right GM? If so YUM!!!
rubberdinghy
There's a place in MTL called Gibby's. It's a steakhouse and they bring you a bowl of pickles to start... BEST PICKLES EVER!
MarcO
I have also had pickles on my mind. I'm gonna dice some up and put them in a potato salad I'm making tonight. diced potatoes + diced pickles + corn + small dice celery + 1 hard boiled egg + mayo + dollop of sour cream + LSD + paprika + parsley __________________________ "MarcO's Potato Salad"

AdamH
MarcO: The strangest thing about that recipe is the Paprika! It's a Hungarian conspiracy that there's any taste to that stuff. Just red dye #34 and some sawdust.

MarcO
ahess - yeah, I just garnish the top with paprika, makes it look nice. apart from that you have to cook it for it to really add any flavour, I think. I learned the recipe from a Polish woman years ago. Nothing to it really, but it's a nice crunchy spud salad.
bokonon
aahhh polish women. is there anything they can't do? ::

CyberHippie
mmm pickels... I like sweet pickles on salmon salad sandwiches... mmmm My one beef with the pickle though is it's name... Why do pickeled cucumbers get exclusive rights to the word pickle? I mean you've got pickeled onions, pickeled eggs, etc., etc., but then instead of pickeled cucumbers, we just call them pickles. What gives? It ain't fair to the other pickeled vegetables dammit!
AdamH
A few thoughts about pickled items. 1. Cyberhippie makes a good point. 2. At the Banff Springs hotel they serve their caesars with a pickled white asparagus stalk. 3. Pickled eggs, onions, cauliflower, hot peppers, lemons....they are all delicious. 4. The Ploughman's lunch: some of each of the above, crusty bread, and cheese 5. Indian Pickles: Mango, Lime, Sour Mango, Cucumber, bitter melon 6. All of #5 are good..especially lime. Heres a link Sugermegs, BUBBIES OF SANFRAN You know Better Midler knows kosher dills.. mmm. she is the brine beneath my gourd! paisley
windowpane. goes nice with the corn. my first time dosed I ended up wandering around farmer's fields near Port Maitland for a few hours (a small portion of the trip) and really enjoyed nibbling raw corn off the cob straight off the stalk... until I stumbled into the strawberry field of course
