CyberHippie Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 I'm putting together a Big Summer Classic sampler, but I don't know umphrey's or Xaviar at all? Can anyone reccomend some particularly tastey tracks? Preferably something off the live archive, so I can download them. Thanks Yo!
PassedOutGuy Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 For Umphrey's, grab any " Jimmy Stewart" type jam from a show there Hippie... u cant go wrong!
ollie Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 Grab something from one of the Umphrey's 2005 matrix recordings on the archive. "Anchor Drops" would be a good song choice.
scottieking Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 Grab Umphrey's Langerado Set for a great beginners guide. The 3/26/05 matrix of the show Guigsy and I saw in Chicago is up and is being hailed as one of the year's best.
Cully Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 August is my favourite Umphrey's song...check out the last couple of shows from the current tour at archive.org They cover YYZ and Don't fear the reaper...."Yes I am familiar with B.O.C.!"
mister slippery Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 for xavier - "new 4th world" kicks into a real nice groove. little slow to start, but when it moves, it moves.
phunkyb Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 Wife Soup is one of my favs.Anything from Anchor Drops is good too.
shainhouse Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 'In The Kitchen' by Umphreys. It was the song of the year at the Jammy's and it is that good. Not sure on Xavier dude.
gentlemonkey Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 yes on the wife soup. walletsworth and anchordrops are also good starters.. or check out shows on archive where they cover a tune you like, they seem to do Pink Floyd and Talking Heads covers really well.
headygouda Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 1. Any Van Halen cover. They can do a pretty mean david lee roth scream! Agreed on the pink floyd and TH covers.2. Most shows in IN/IL are up there. Though different shows, because they are 2 of 3 acoustic performances (set I at least), 8/6-7/2004 are amazing. Awesome to hear that fast picking without distortion.3. 12/11/2004. Sick hurt bird bath to start it off...great roulette and triple wide>jimmy stewart to follow.4. Last year's bonnaroo was pretty hot too. Great energy, like most 'roo performances for any band. Nice moe. sandwich for 'setbreak'.5. Xavier had some great energy for the toronto show at the horseshoe. Great matrix recording by david klein as well. Not sure how this performance ranks compared to others...but sure seemed like he had a blast on his first trip to the tdot.Trev - even though new monsoon isn't coming to toronto, you should still add them to your BSC sampler! They're great.
ollie Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 I did some digging in the archive.Walletsworth, 2/25/05 mp3 - flac Wife Soup, 2/25/05mp3 - flac And if you like the progressive rock...Bridgeless, 2/26/05flac (only)
Del Posted May 27, 2005 Report Posted May 27, 2005 Xavier Rudd - Let Me Be... I recommend the version from this show although truth be told, most of his shows sound pretty much the same...
CyberHippie Posted May 27, 2005 Author Report Posted May 27, 2005 Thanks all! That'll definitely give me a few tracks to finish up the disc... Hope this one doesn't get cancelled...
