Well the Habs are not doing too great in the Rookies Tournament. They now have a record of 1-2, after loses to Toronto and Carolina.

According to coach Rick Green only one of the players on the Habs team is showing real promise and that's Guillaume Latendresse, a 6'2" 220lbs. forward that plays for the Voltigeurs de Drummondvile. Green says that he would like to see Latendresse make the training camp.

Also the Habs first round pick Carey Price played his first game in a Habs uniform, and turned aside 26 shots. Coach Green was pleased with Price's performance.

I love the Habs but Roller is acting like a TO fan. Seriously dude, you're embarrasing. I cant believe you havent posted this yet:

Guillaume Latendresse has been turning heads since he first put the Habs jersey on in the rookie camp, leading all players with 6 points in 4 games along with fast skating and bonecrunching hits. He may be a longshot to crack the lineup but so far, the kid looks VERY good....

From one Habs fan to another... mange d'la merde mon aisti!

Since I'm going to be deprived of hockey for the most part, all I have is stats to keep me going. I've also decided to raise my obsession level with the Habs to 11.

If you can't handle that, hand in your Naslund jersey.

Latendresse is apparently doing awesome in camp.

I wouldn't expect you to understand Booche, if that is your real name, for you're not actually from Montréal.

I can quite confidently assure you that I fairly represent the excitement and anticipation of my native city regarding the return of our game.

Please, start cheering for the Leafs instead. Have you not noticed the other Habs fans on this board are being somewhat silent?

Dont embarrass us with your Leaf fan antics. Please. Please dont. You are ruining the tradition of Les Habitants. A quiet confidence is far more sporting than an abrassive insecurity.

Thanks for your support _sniffer_

Booche will just never understand the true meaning of being a Habs fan: loud brash claims of supremacy followed by catastrophic failure. Find blame, chase him out of town, rinse, repeat.

However things are going to change this year. I can feel it.

I'm thinking they can reach 6th place if they stay healthy. That's the trick however because they always seem to lead the league in man-games lost due to injury.

They're no LA Kings, but yeah they've sure had some bad luck with injuries.

I'm fearlessly predicting Phi, TB, Ott, Bos, NJ, Tor, and yes both Pittsburgh and Atlanta to be the top 8. Not sure what to make of the changes in Florida, NYI and Mtl, but they're going to be in tough to make the playoffs.

The Leafs should lead the league in man-games lost to injuries this year as their top 3 centres and goaltender are potential liabilities due to their advanced age and/or medical history.

There's a new Guy in town. Even though he's only 18 years old, Guillaume Latendresse has become a media and crowd favorite in Montreal.

During the game against the Lightning yesterday the crowd was chanting the familiar "Guy! Guy! Guy!" as Latendresse scored two goals, added an assist, and was named the first star during the Habs 6-1 preseason win over the Lightning.

The line of Latendresse-Bonk-Hossa managed to accumulate 11 points.

It's Monday morning, I don't feel like working yet, I will analyze the Habs training camp because I feel like it, and there is nothing that Booche can do about it.

A second round of cuts is expected later on Monday as Claude Julien will be making some difficult decisions... apparently he wants to trim down the team to 28 players, down from the current 38.

First of all I am predicting the following cuts:

G- Olivier Michaud

G- Carey Price

D- Jonathan Aitkin

D- Andrew Archer

D- Andre Benoit

D- Jean-Phillipe Cote

F- Kyle Chipchura

F- Raitis Ivanans

F- Michel Lambert

F- Jonathan Ferland

These cuts will shore up the goalie rotation, as Theodore will obviously get the brunt of the workload, and Yann Danis will provide some backup until Christobal Huet is back from injury sometime in December.

On defence, the top two rotations are pretty much set:

1- Sheldon Souray and Craig Rivet

2- Andrei Markov and Mathieu Dandenault

Third line however has an open spot as it is still uncertain who will be joining Mike Komisarek, and also the seventh defenseman role is up for grabs. Three players are competing for the two spots:

- Ron Hainsey (1st round pick, 2000)

- Mark Streit (captain of team Sweeden)

- Francis Boullion (previous NHL experience)

Next on the forwards. I think that only the top line is set, and that's going to be Zednik/Koivu/Kovalev.

Centres:

Mike Ribeiro and Radek Bonk will head the second and third lines respectively, but the fourth line centre is up in the air. It's a three way battle between Steve Begin, Chris Higgins, and Thomas Plekanec. Out of the three only Begin has NHL experience, but Plekanec has had an amazing pre-season and Higgins is a former 1st round pick.

Wings:

Nothing is certain here other than Micheal Ryder finding himself on the second line. Other than that there are 7 guys competing for 5 spots:

- Jan Bulis (NHL experience)

- Pierre Dagenais (NHL experience)

- Niklas Sundstrom (NHL experience)

- Marcel Hossa (2nd round pick, 2000)

- Andrei Kostitsyn (1st round pick, 2003)

- Alex Perezhogin (2nd round pick, 2001)

- Guillaume Latendresse (2nd round pick, 2005)

All of these guys have had solid training camps, so this decision will be the most difficult.

Discuss.
