I guess guigsy, although even on the easy listening stations they play Cale's 'After Midnight',like I said, its new to me is all.

But in the spirit of this thread:

'Don't Do It' covered by the Band.

Written by Eddie Holland & originally recorded by Marvin Gaye.

'Blind Willie McTell' covered by the Band

Written by Bob Dylan

'Wanted Man' covered by George Thorogood & also Johnny Cash.

Written by Bob Dylan

And songs by The Band people usually don't realize were co-written:

'Tears of Rage'

Written by:Bob Dylan and Richard Manuel

'The Wheels On Fire'

Written by: by Bob Dylan and Rick Danko

First: Bach cannot be improved upon. Sorry Corry.

Second: Springsteen's Blinded By The Light.

I have yet to hear the original Black Betty (is it Muddy Waters?), and I just heard a tune called Black Mountain Top (I believe) from the early Sixties that Jimmy Page LIFTED, and I mean note-for-note stole and renamed (ever so slightly) Black Mountain Side. Can't remember the artist's name, but it was played to me off the internet, so it's out there.

On a semi-related note, ever heard the (earlier) studio version of Cheap Trick's I Want You To Want Me? It is soooo not a hit, and is a tip of the hat to the energy in the performance from Budokan that saved the band from extinction.
