bradm
I saw that this morning, linked fromhttp://it.slashdot.org/it/06/06/22/0024225.shtmlwhich also has some stories/commentary about AOL's policies, both from people who have tried to cancel their accounts, and from people who have worked for AOL.Aloha,Brad
ollie
What a brilliant passive aggressive duel. Makes me want to get an AOL account just so I can cancel it!

bouche
I do wonder why he was recording this. It smells like he planned on getting famous by taking advantage of annoying customer service.I'm surprised this hasn't been done before.
Guest Low Roller
A friend of mine had AOL for free for over two years. It started with one of those 'free trial' dealies, and when it was over he called to cancel, but pretty much got the same shpiel as above. He was continually offered further free trials after cunningly listing NUMEROUS problems he had with the software (some were pretty far reached i.e. the AOL interface hurt his eyes)... He never paid a single penny. Win-win?
ollie
and another video from YoutubeVince really overstates his case when he repeatedly refers to the incident as a "horror story".
deranger
I worked for AOL at their corporate headquarters in Dulles Virginia for 6 months. I was a "junior project analyst". I did nothing for 90% of my time. They waste lots of money. That CSR takes his job wayyyy to seriously.
bouche
it was only 3 and a half minutes of schpeel.
Velvet
That is really quite remarkable, and yet I bet it's happening again right now.And now.
StoneMtn
I was also wondering how he ended up recording it, Bouche. I'm willing to bet that someone he knows had this happen before, so he just figured he'd catch it on tape; perhaps to get famous as you suggested.
