Cully
I was just wondering what people thought of this...I have always had a issue with people listening to a band the same day that you were going to see that band live. It was always a rule in my car on Phish tour that we didn't listen to phish the day of the show becaues it seemed to lessen the surprise of a bust-out. Also a great version of a song was not as good if you had already listened to it earlier that day.Any thoughts?
ollie
In theory I wish I could do this but I don't have the will power. I'm blasting Zedonk right now.
bradm
I think I agree with you, Cully (though maybe not as strictly). If, however, I haven't seen or heard the band in a while, I may listen to a few of the band's CDs/shows in the days before the show(s) to re-familiarize myself with the band's music. (This is especially useful if I'm keeping a set list.)Aloha,Brad

boiler
I don't mind so much listening to the band on the way to the show, after the show however is a different story.Sometimes listening to the band before hand helps (me) build up. That being said, it's the Beach Boys all the way to Ottawa!!!
Cully
That is why I asked this question StoneMtn! I am glad that you are rocking out...
MarcO
I try not to listen to the band I am going to see for several days before the show. Certainly NOT on the way to the venue!
Birdy
uh. i can't help it either. at some point today, i'm sure i'll blast that one superfly show that i have somewhere. gooooo superfly! haha
StoneMtn
I should add, though, that I often don't listen to the band the day of the show, and I won't be listening to nero. on my way to Ottawa.
phorbesie
never really thought about it!although i remember at my first dead show i couldn't understand why everyone was listening to the dead all the time. hehe
boiler
Not that this has so much to do with the question; but it reminds me of driving from Cape Breton to Halifax in 92 or 93 ish to see the Hip. We had them blasting the whole way, took a bunch of LSD, got pulled over for speeding (I wasn't driving, too high) by one of those airplane patrols and missing a chance to play ice hockey with the band because my buddy forgot to call his buddy. Booche
Hey, you were the one that assumed Breit and the Creaking Tree boys had to practise for months. Let me let you in on a little secret. They are what are known as "musicians". And good ones taboot. What kind of consciousness comes up with that?
