SmoothedShredder
Next Theme: Song Titles That Are or Include Homophones1. Frank Zappa - Sheik Yerbouti Tango2. The Who - Love Reign O'er Me3. John Coltrane - Chasin' The Trane4. Bright Eyes - Gold Mine Gutted5. Charlie Parker - Chasin'The Bird6. Prince - If Eye Was The Man In Ur Life7. Saint John The Gambler - Another Stranger Plays The Muse8. Grateful Dead - Drumz>Space9. Cole Porter - Who Said Gay Paree?10. Parliament - Rumpofsteelskin11. Willie Nelson - Undo the Right12.Perhaps some topics/songs need an explanation, as I have no idea why some of these songs are considered homophones... for mine it would be right as in right and wrong vs. right as in left and right (perhaps with a political overtone... oh Willie.) StoneMtn
Alright, I admit it. I chose the worst theme ever.Someone please just finish this off, already, though and put me out of my misery. (DEM made a suggestion for a song by a great artist. Why not input that one and get yourself the chance to name the new, undoubtedly better, theme.) DevO
it's got to ... i really don't think that there are 12 covers on his studio albums. My housemate who is a Dylan freak said earlier that one of his very first albums was all covers except for 2 tracks or so, and that he also put out an album of cover songs in the 80's.. And that he used to cover loads of Arlo. He's gone to bed now so I can't comment further!edit: But I'm sure some of our resident Dylan freaks will have somethin to say about it. MarcO
if a Dylan cover was released on one of his live albums it can count.if it's only available through "underground" means, it betrays one of the few simple rules of this game and shouldn't go. sorry.and I can assure you Dylan has officially released several cover songs over his career. Davey Boy 2.0
i would argue that it's just the originators and their song that have to have been released on an album to make them qualify- it's the object of the theme not the subject of the theme that has to meet that particular requirement

MarcO
i would argue that it's just the originators and their song that have to have been released on an album to make them qualify- it's the object of the theme not the subject of the theme that has to meet that particular requirementI'll agree that in this case it is ambiguous. I thought it meant we were doing an album featuring Dylan singing other people's songs, in which case an official release by Dylan would be required. But indeed if the goal is simply to list songs officially released by other artists that Dylan has done in any capacity, then you are in fact right.
