Following on the tails of what I consider the weakest Ween show I've seen (Montreal) they stepped up to bat in Toronto and played with the fire and abandon I expect at a Ween show. We missed the beginning of the show but I was happy to get the tunes I did and to share the experience with a happy, racous crowd. The venue wasn't too bad but the crowd was too big. I consistently find that Ween audiences are bigger in Canada than they are in the US, which boggles my mind, especially with regards to how seldom they play north of the border.

After the show I was benevelently ushered into the first cab available and whisked off to the Dominion. Already approaching leglessly drunk I blended with the masses at the shocked bar and socialised, virtually missing all of Dave's set. That said I made a point of staggering to the stage on a number of occasions to close my eyes and listen. I've said it before - Dave's solo stuff gets better and better every time. The fact that one man makes all that music is astounding and surprising. Way to go Dave, and way to go Damien and everyone else involved for setting up a wildly successful aftershow.

My first time at 1017 followed. I was graciously offered beer after beer and had a blast reconnecting with past tour friends and meeting a few new skanks (great talking to you allison and mule mama). I remarked several times how this place can't be compared to that place given that 1017 actually appears inhabitable! By 7am or so I was having great difficulty standing so phorbesie and I walked/subwayed/cabbed back to Thornhill in time to bid good morning to Mr. & Mrs. Stn Mtn.

Slept 'til noon, puked five times, reslept until 7pm, visited Mr. Mtn's brother's Hallowe'en party (which was unbelievably decorated) and drove to Ottawa, arriving before 2am.

We had a great time at your parties.

Sounds like I made a wise choice to skip 1017, quietly cab from The Dominion back to my hotel (room 420 :) ), get a couple of hours of horizontal time, awaken just before my alarms went off (8:00am), scarf back some breakfast and coffee, cab to the bus station, and get on the 9:30am express to Ottawa, rather than opt to ride back with Velvet and phorbesie. I was probably in bed Saturday night before V+p left Toronto...

Aloha,

Brad
