I didn't think I liked him, but I'm really enjoying his Austin City Limits performance.

It looks like he's taking a shit when he sings, but if I look away, the music is pretty good.

He's a decent guitar player, but his sings are brutal. The limp boy-pop side of his persona is impossible for me to take.

I have seen him live and he puts on a pretty good show. The austin city limits was great.

[color:purple]Its too bad his songs appeal to too wide of a population for most people from this board to appreciate him. He's a great player and I think he writes very good songs.

I've always been kind of luke warm towards him, but he has the chops, that's for sure. There was a clip on YouTube a year or two ago (which I just looked for and couldn't find) of him teasing "Stash" at one of his shows. Definitely doesn't get enough credit.

I like John Mayer a lot. I saw him at the ACC last spring, it was fantastic.

I think Mayer has been hearing the voices of too many of his heroes in the past few years and as a result, has abandoned his faux-sensitive pop style for good. His ego is tremendous and his head is remarkably and distractingly disproportionate to that of his skinny body - although it needs to be big to fit in his ego. His music isn't junk in a commercial sense.

I like his work with the John Mayer Trio a lot and managed to catch him at the New Orleans Jazzfest last year and really enjoyed his set.

I remember Mayer in the Much environment shredding it up in front of a legion of dismayed teens and pre-teens during one of his first post Top 40 tours a number of years ago. I didn't like the music too much, but I appreciated the shred.
