MoMack
Anybody know if this place does a good coat check?
Kanada Kev
Town Ballroom?Yup, they have a coatcheck in the bar when you first get in. It gets pretty damn hot in the venue and the last thing you want to be dragging around are winter coats (because Buffalo is always FREEZING cold).I think it was $2 or $3 when I was there for moe. the other week. MoMack
Much obliged - didn't know if it was going to be a "ratty-old-don't care if some wook steals it coat" or something made for this weather we're having....
Kanada Kev
Yeah, and unless you're going in late, they often have a lineup to get in (for id checks and pat downs) ... you'll freeze if you leave your coat in the car/hotel room
ForbinHood
So true Kev... both times ive been ive stood out in extremely cold temperatures and the second time i tried to without a heavy coat...not the way to go...

MoMack
All in all a good place though? Cheap drinks? Lots of bars? Anything it'd compare to in Toronto?
Schwa.
Better small room than anything toronto has to offer, you'll love it dude.

Kanada Kev
Have US cash on hand though ... the owner doesn't like getting CAN funds (they charge 25% exchange in the WRONG WAY). There is a cash machine inside if needed. Shea's makes the best drinks when they have the sideroom bar open. At the last Phil show there we were getting huge freepour doubles for $4!! Basher
I have heard nothing but GREAT things about this venue, and Morgan, there is some Beer festival going on Saturday that Rossolee is all over - I'll email you the details. Can't believe I have never seen a show there. Kanada Kev
The ONLY thing I can think of that kinda sucks (but in no way ruins an evening there) is the fact that they have an attendant in the mens' washroom. I just hate that.I love the Town Ballroom. I hope there continue to be great shows there for many years to come. If there's ever anyone playing there that you're half-way interested in, it's best to get tix asap ... it sells out easily.
\/\/illy
No thanks to MoMack but rumour has it that I may actually get to see DSO finally. I've been wanting to see these guys for years so I'm pretty excited about it.(Just kidding MoMack!)

bradm
what is FOH sound?"FOH" stands for "front of house"; for a person to work "FOH sound" means that the person will be out front operating the sound board.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Front_of_HouseAloha,Brad

bONES
Healy eh? Weird... weird? who better to mix the songs of the Grateful Dead than the Deads own sound engineer!? Their (DSO's) monitor sound guy was Chub (Glen) Carrier for a few years until he passed away on tour in 2004. He did sound for the Grateful Dead for 10 years. Betty Cantor-Jackson (one of the original Dead tapers) has recorded and released DSO shows several times. Not to mention the many GD members, crew, family and friends that have contributed to the DSO experience. I think it's only natural that he take over for Cam (while he takes a bit of time off). ForbinHood...can't wait until we get to a show together brother
