C'mon brad help me here buddy...
bagochips Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 He's on tour again because his agent ripped him off for $5 million and left him with about $150 000 to his name. Sad reason to go back on the road but I'll take it. I am really excited at the chance to finally see Leonard.
AD Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 He is scheduled to open in Toronto on June 6 and 7, the city that gave birth to his career as a recording and literary artistNo doubt written by a Torontonian, as that's pretty much false if what I know about Cohen is true. His writing took off in Montreal while his music began in Nashville.
AD Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 Anyone know how the tickets work for this? ie. do you buy separate tics for individual shows at the MTL Jazz Festival? That's how it's worked for every show I've seen at the Jazz Fest (besides the free shows, obviously)

Hux Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 Ah, that 4th date certainly helps, I hope he gets rich - he deserves it, could be tough though as these Canadian dates are only 3000-seat venues...
Tungsten Gruvsten Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 (edited) nice...one of the last autographs I got was his last show in TO....man that was a long time ago......oh yeah and good one on the Young Ones tie-in Ollie! Edited March 12, 2008 by Guest
phishtaper Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 anyone have the presale passwords for the Toronto shows?
Hartamophone Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 One of the articles I read about this today said that while the present leg is almost entirely overseas, there will be a proper North American tour come Fall. This definitely put Mr. Cohen on my mind today, and I'm betting I was the only one at the gym tonight who had him as the soundtrack on the ol' iPod.
phishtaper Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 Mr. Cohen the gym iPod. one of these things is not like the others
phishtaper Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 ok enough pussyfootin'around!, who's got my presale password!!!!!
Hux Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 If you have an AMEX you can get them at 10 I hear...
phishtaper Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 Type - 2 Front Of The Line® Tickets Ticket Price - CA $250.00 x 2 Convenience Charge - CA $16.50 x 2If you don't want these tickets, give them up and search again. I gave them up. Sorry Len. That's just greedy.
bagochips Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 Considering how much the Boss, Neil, Sting and the like are charging these days, it's really not so bad. Don't get me wrong, that's a lot of money for a concert, but Cohen hasn't toured in the last decade and the venues are tiny.
phishtaper Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 oh sure, you can rationalize it in any number of ways, but its still greedy. Gordon Lightfoot tickets are $60 to $90. Elton, Bruce and Sting tix are $70 to $120. yes, the bulk of Neil tix were $150 and up, and that firmly places him in the greedy category - like he needed it. the more the big names gouge our pockets to see their one show, the less we can afford to see the many bands that do need our money.
