jaybone
I have been reading a collection of essays by David Sedaris entitled "Naked". I have never laughed out loud as much while reading as I have while reading this book. I received more then a few weird looks on the plane last weekend. Highly recommended. DevO
I am a fan. He also published a book of Christmas themed short stories called Holidays on Ice that I remember laughing my head off to. I have picked up another one of his books called Me Talk Pretty One Day but haven't read it yet.

jaybone
"A plague of ticks" is from Naked. It is the story that had me laughing my ass off and receiving weird looks from my fellow travelers last weekend. There were a few others that had me laughing inappropriately in public as well.

Velvet
To be that funny a guy's gotta be really, really smart, and I think Sedaris is really, really smart.
Calamity Jane
BUT.....for a dirtier, raunchier, more jaw-droppingly blow-jobby read (still side-splitting and milk-out-the-nose funny) read Augusten Burroughs. Read some of his essays first, then read his autobiography, Running with Scissors. Avoid the movie though. these guys are 2 of my favs....I have very dog-eared copies I re-read and re-read when a) I need a non-chemical pick me up, and I need to feel within a range of "normal" ;-)
hamilton
I have been reading a collection of essays by David Sedaris entitled "Naked". I have never laughed out loud as much while reading as I have while reading this book. I received more then a few weird looks on the plane last weekend. Highly recommended.I had exactly the same experience - read it on the plane, and had tears running down my face from laughing so hard. The people around me thought I was insane. If you like "Naked", I definitely recommend "Me Talk Pretty One Day". Sedaris is awesome.
PalacePrincess
i LOVE david sedaris!!! dress your family in corduroy & denimn was my first foray into the world of david sedaris, and is still my favourite. i'd even say i liked it way better than naked (and i liked naked too!). DEFINITELY recommended: me talk pretty one day is in the pile of books i got for christmas/boxing day shopping, and i can't wait to get to it. deranger
When you are engulfed in Flames is also laugh out loud wicked funny. Reading Dress you parents...right now. So far Naked has been the funniest for me, but engulfed in flames is also hilarious.

Im going home Donny
Maybe my laugh o meter is off but that was one dark and twisted read. Maybe I let out a sarcastic kinda "hA!" here and there but no laughing my ass off. I found it darrrrrrk. That said I am totally addicted to his writing now and on my way to reading everything he has.
