DevO
Maybe Jon Doe and the Sadies too if they didn't play last year. Also perhaps Laura Barrett.Maybe BSS under the guise of Charlie Spearin's new project. I seem to recall hearing that Apostle of Hustle are working on a new album too, though that might've been a dream. Seems that crew is there every single year. The Acorn. Did they play last year? The Arkells seem to be hitting it big this Summer. Not sure who else.. I'm out of the loop!
AD
new apostle of hustle has leaked if you know where to look for it...Rural Alberta Advantage are confirmed for Hillside. (And are a wonderful band, confirmed)Patrick Watson has a new album and is touring, that's a good bet I'd say. Same goes for Gentleman Reg. Jakis
Waited in line at soundscapes but got shutout. Luckily my friend picked up 4 weekend passes off the internet! Can't wait. Would camping already be sold out??
NewRider
I think camping is usually sold out a year in advance but there's always cancellations.
Jakis
Sweet thanks Newrider. Do I just keep calling them for the cancellations or something?
NewRider
I'm not sure. I'd ask if there's a waiting list or something, ya never know.

zero
I totally forgot to mention Rural Alberta Advantage (also produced by our buddy Roger Leavens). They got a good mention in the New York Times, something in Spin I think and good exposure at SXSW and things seem to be blowing up for them. I know their itunes sales went up huge of course. thomson
Another fabulous Friday evening of Run with the Kittens in Guelph. I got in line outside the Hillside office at 7:30am after far too little sleep. That wasn't early enough to get early bird prices but I did get four passes....five and a half hours later! I am sunburnt and exhausted but looking forward to Hillsiding yet again this year.Campsites went up for grabs six-months before the festival (late Jan 2009) and are now sold out. To inquire about cancelations call the Guelph Lake office of the Grand River Conservation Area. I wouldn't bother calling till a few weeks prior to the event - the week of is the best time.As Tungsten mentioned overflow camping is always available and can not be booked in advance. Overflow is is great but bring ear plugs. Also I wouldn't recommend it for those bringing young ones. Hillside is a fabulous festival to bring kids to but it is ideal to have a campsite or a place in town to stay and take the shuttle bus.

Wow, five and a half hours ... a Hillside fan(atic) for sure! And understandably so, as Hillside is an amazing festival in so many ways. I didn't end up lining up for tickets, as we are going to be away for sure on a family vacation adventure during Hillside. Peace, Mark

NewRider
10 acts you highlighted out of 50. Most of them play around Southern Ontario a lot. There's a few I'd like to see that I haven't seen a bunch of times already. Still, I don't think it's nearly as good as previous years. Am I the only person on the planet that doesn't give a fuck about Xavier Rudd or That One Dude?
phishtaper
it always amuses me when people critique weekend festival line-ups ... especially Hillside where the roster is always very diverse. quite often, the highlight for me turns out to be some band i'd never or barely heard of before. i suppose it's all a matter of one's personal expectations of what they want from the event. AD
I wasn't being sarcastic. I'm sure it will be a fun time, but very few of those many acts could get me excited about Hillside, especially when the ones I'd be interested in are playing other places this summer. Bidini - Black Sheep in June Great Lake Swimmers - First Baptist in June Holy Fuck - Wolfe Island Julie Doiron - She'll be back soon Rural Alberta Advantage - Wolfe Island Kevin Hearn Patrick Watson - Probably the only act that I'm interested in that I don't have plans to see elsewhere. His new disc is fantastic. Not to piss on Hillside's parade, but I don't think they're doing anything all that different this year. But of course it will be super fun for those that go - It's fun regardless of the lineup and what people like me say
AD
quite often, the highlight for me turns out to be some band i'd never or barely heard of before.I agree with you and have made that argument many times in the past, but in this case I know 90% of the acts announced for Hillside and am able to give an informed opinion about the lineup. DevO
Yeah, not the craziest line-up for me, at first glance, but still solid and there are tons of acts on there that I'm completely unfamiliar with. Groupo Fantasmo is a surprise - if this is the band I saw at Bonnaroo last year then I think they'll be great at Hillside. Big latin dance band.As Tonin said though, the roster of artists is only one part of what makes Hillside so special. Holy Fuck - Wolfe IslandRural Alberta Advantage - Wolfe IslandWhere are you getting the word on Wolfe, AD?? Got anything else?
