c-towns
Earlier this year there was a 2 page thread about these guys and now a 2 response thread, what happened?Anyone going tonight or do they suck now?
YearsAlongTheSea
That's a steep ticket in a month of many shows. Otherwise I'd be all over it...
Kanada Kev
Yeah, I know. They are worth it, IMHO. Timing is bad for me too. May try to hit it at the last minute ... we'll see.
Jay Funk Dawg
I'm there tonight! I didn't see them last time, but Rob Garza and some of his musicians came by my after-party w/ Ursula 1000 - who is also on their record label ESL. I'm pumped! Guest Low Roller
Totally missed this one. Is it a DJ set or full band? I saw them in Paris once, and it was only DJ set, which was good, but not great.
Kanada Kev
Full band. Bass, keys, drums, sitar, djs, lots of singers, etc. etc. Big SOUND.

I just didn't have enough gas in my tank to survive a show last night Gotta stay healthy for the Mule. How was the turnout on such a nasty night outside?? Jay Funk Dawg
They actually mentioned how miserable a night it was -- I would say there was at least 1,500 people there. The show was so top notch - the visuals, the multiple singers - plus great music. My only criticism would be the sound - the bass was a bit mufflily. Definitely enjoyed it - it was the first time seeing them play live. Many people said that it was pretty much the same show they saw in February. artmastertilt
Ocole Soul Sounds was the opening act...LOVED their set...The band is a side project by members of Antibalas (my favourite band of the 2007 Toronto Jazz Festival) and Grupo Fantasma (my favourite act at Hillside this year)...Would def. go see them again in a heartbeat...This was, more or less, the same show that Thievery Corporation did in February...They got a new little punk rock bass player, the LED panels that were blocking half the audience's view of the percussionists were left on the truck, the sound wasn't quite as good and the horn section's hair got a little longer...It felt a little stale to me, but if you haven't seen them before it'd be worthwhile...
