AD
I think it was a huge deal that google had a Super Bowl spot- who are they losing market share to???apple might replace google with bing on apple products, plus google's phone and android phones need to pick up the pace. And other reasons I'm sure

d_rawk
I was pretty surprised to see a Google ad last night as well - particularly for Google search, which doesn't really seem to need any pumping up. AD's reminder about Bing on Apple products makes some sense, but on platforms where people are in full control of where they do their searches, I don't think Google is in any danger. [edit to add: there is something to be said for pre-emption, though, so I guess it might make sense on that level.]I figured it was just about feel-good branding as there is a 'Google is scary, has too much data, and is going to become big brother' sentiment that seems to be growing.Plus it's fun to have a cool ad on Superbowl Sunday, and there is money to burn.PS - I want a Nexus One over the iPhone or the iPad. Coming home after writing that, I can't be the only one who discovered an early Valentine's Day card from Google in their mailbox?

I'll save it for something that could use an ad.
