mark tonin
I really enjoyed the show and the whole evening. Except for the drive back ... will they ever invent a teleportation machine?!? Ran in to some long-time friends pre-show at Washington Square while having wings. That was an unexpected treat. It was also nice running into a bunch of friends and familiar faces inside the venue. I love the venue. Very classy. I thought the band sounded sweet. Very full and balanced. A great mix between the JC's keys and JK's guitar. Nice vocals, but I thought they could have been louder in the mix at times. The song selection didn't totally do it for me, but I thought the band sounded tight and played really well. A few too many covers for my liking. I didn't really have any "would really like to hear" songs in mind before the show, but I left feeling like something was missing from the song selection. All in all a very enjoyable show and I hope that they keep this lineup together, as I think it works really well. Peace, Mark
tigger
I think that this Summer maybe the last for any mix of former Dead members sharing a tour stage ;for awhile , if again.
edger
I had such a GREAT night overall. Much of which can be owed to the awesome company I had.We were up in the balcony for the show, which going into it I was dissapointed about. However I was quite happy to be there. I had never been to Shea's before, and it is a BEAUTIFUL venue. Being on the balcony enabled one to really appreciate how intricate the room was, and the sound and sightlines were fantastic.I'd agree with much of what Tonin said. While there wasn't anything in particular that I necessarily wanted to hear, I did feel a little dissapointment about song selection. Given that it is so rare to get to hear these songs I've grown to love so dear. Having said that, the energy from the band was great, and they were laying down some super tight, groovy jams. The crowd seemed to be really into it. By far my favourite run of the night was Mississippi Halfstep> Get Back> He's Gone. But the After Midnight was also sweet. Shakedown is always good times and I know that tune particularly made a certain someone on this board happy (amongst many others I'm sure) and I enjoy feeding off the enthusiasm of others for those staple songs. Ripple encore was also beautiful. As much as there were some long-loved gems that I would have liked to have heard, I kept thinking to myself, if I had just walked in off the street to hear this band I would have been blown away. So I figure one can't be too upset about that.Chimenti and Kadlecic bring SOOO much to this band. This is by far the best Dead oriented lineup I've seen in a long time. Chimenti just had me soaring. We ended up hitting the after-party show where the dead cover band Sonic Garden played. They totally surpassed my expectations and were exactly what I needed to carry on with my night. I was not ready to stop dancing and they provided the perfect platform. Such good times! Couple of war wounds to prove it. So convenient having the Hyatt, Shea's and the afterparty all within a five minute walk of each other. I've never had so much fun in Buffalo. All in all a great night.By the way Tonin. Sorry for the goosechase. I'm usually a 'little' more together than that. Ooops. mark tonin
By the way Tonin. Sorry for the goosechase. I'm usually a 'little' more together than that. Ooops. No worries my friend. I still enjoyed the 'tour' of the venue. I hope to catch this band with this lineup again this summer. In addition to everything that has been said above, it seems with this lineup that "Bobby does what Bobby does best" (a quote from my friend) and I agree. The stage dynamics and balance feel right with this group. Peace, Mark
