Northern Wish
Something DaveO said to me a few weeks resonates here (I am beyond paraphrasing his words):In the indie world / blogosphere, its not much different than the mainstream. Every blog, festival and discussion is still focusing on the same bands over and over again. This is proof.

Would it?Have you heard Chris Cornell sing lately? I would be afraid he'd ruin any great memories I have of that band by sucking giant panda balls

dave-O
Something DaveO said to me a few weeks resonates here (I am beyond paraphrasing his words):In the indie world / blogosphere' date=' its not much different than the mainstream. Every blog, festival and discussion is still focusing on the same bands over and over again. This is proof.[/quote']Really?!?!How many of the bands on this list will be played on Chez106 today? Not the same context as my original comment, but you really missed the point, Velvet. Chez106 and its contemporaries play "their" bands over and over (Stones, Skynyrd, etc). The blogosphere hypes its same small number of artists over and over (Phoenix, MGMT, etc). Northern Wish
The point I thought you were trying to make (and what I thought fit this situation) is that almost every indie fest (or blog etc.) features the same bands (no not 100% of them AD).Your Chez106 reference works, because they play the same bands over and over again- much like their competitors (lets say Q107 for one).Either way, have fun in Chicago if you do- its a good lineup- just nothing revolutionary..... Esau.
Chez106 and its contemporaries play "their" bands over and over (Stones, Skynyrd, etc). The blogosphere hypes its same small number of artists over and over (Phoenix, MGMT, etc).Exactly. I had a similar conversation not too long ago where a friend said "you really like the unknown bands don't you?" when I was referring to bands like Drive-By Truckers, The Gourds and William Elliott Whitmore being bands I'd love to see outdoor at the same festival. I then told him to look any of them up online and he'd see they get hyped just as much as Q107 hypes Rush, or 102.1 FM hypes Our Lady peace. He obviously didn't get my drift since his only reply was something along the lines of: "well, they can't be too popular, I've never heard them on Q107 or 102.1 FM or seen them play any festivals they advertise."
