Lost! Explain this garbage to me. SPOILERS!

yup. And one can also look at it as being a Jack-centric situation. What I mean is that they are all 'connected' but one might see a slightly different ending through the eyes of one of the other people (it may not have ended in a church where Jack's dad was supposed to have a funeral).

I also liked the fact that even though it was in the church, there were symbols of all faiths in the frame. It was love and redemption that allowed them to "move on" to wherever that is in your mind.

Fuck Grey's Anatomy and the dozens of CSIs that pollute the airwaves.

As Desmond would say' date=' "right on brutha!" ;)

Thanks again for the great cable show recommendations btw. Best shows on TV by far (Deadwood, Rome, Firefly, BSG, Breaking Bad, Sopranos, Wire, 'Treme, etc. etc. etc.)

And two more of my favourite shows of the past 10 years are Supernatural and Farscape (most pure sci-fi show I've ever seen, and perhaps the funniest).

and the reason no one is in the church but for Season 1 people is because they wrote the ending to the show after writing the pilot.

Wasn't Juliet in the church? She wasn't from season one...

Was Arzt in the church? He was there in the first two years (and on the initial crash) and was in the finale.

Awesome! I'm putting them on my list. Thanks for the tips :)

Supernatural is made by many of the same producers/writers from the X-Files, but the show is more fun and gives you answers. Jim Beaver from Deadwood co-stars. For me, every show I've seen that features Deadwood alums generally are worth watching.

I'm currently re-watching Farscape (it went off the air around 4 years ago) and it stands up really well. In fact, I think I like it better after a second viewing.

thanks for posting that big explanation, that helped out alot!

as far as decent shows on cable i love Fringe, i think JJ directs it too, really cool scifi show, alt universes, put it this way: it makes it look like X-files was written by kids, and Fringe is written by university prof's, some of the science shit. great show.

thanks again

Fringe is definitely influenced by Supernatural in reference to some of their stand-alone horroresque episodes. I do like Fringe though, and it's only getting better.

My favorite current US cable shows are Mad Men and Burn Notice, surprised to see at least the first one hasn't gotten a mention.

I'm dying to see Burn Notice. I hear that my favourite acting icon, Bruce Campbell, is a real hoot in the show. One problem is that I don't want to add Super Channel to my already monsterous cable package.

Another great new US show that's on Super Channel is Justified, starring Timothy Olyphant, who starred as the always furious Marshall Seth Bullock in Deadwood. I`ve read that Justified is one of the best new shows on cable. Can`t wait to see it. Oh, Justified is a modern western and Olyphant plays a marshall that tracks down the bad guys. It`s created by Graham Yost or The Pacific, Band of Brothers fame (and son of TVO`s At the Movies legendary host Elwy Yost).

Yes Jaimoe. Thats one BIG fucking revelation you have come up with. Mainstream tv sucks for the most part because its middle of the road. Wooooo. Love seeing how you are the only one who constantly goes on about watching great tv. Is there a thread where you havent mentioned Rome or Deadwood?

Why dont you join the rest of us in present time and check out the best shows tele has to offer like Mad Men and Breaking Bad?

And isnt this thread about Lost? And wtf am I doing in it?

Fuckme. My Friday gears are starting to grind........

Side-stepping Cranky-Booche for a moment, I've read this thread with interest. I've never seen an episode of Lost and always said that I would wait till it was over with and see if people were satisfied that it all came together. I'd just heard so many complaints about a potentially directionless writing staff.

After reading this thread, I think I'll give it a go from the first episode.

I don't mind the side discussion about other US cable shows. But I do enjoy it when Booche's gears start to grind.

There`s lots of good TV out there, you just have to know where to find it. I like the reboot of Doctor Who quite a bit plus the Tudors is excellent. I have Season II and III of Breaking Bad in HD on my laptop; I'm still waiting on Season I. I can't wait for the new season of Rescue Me to start up.

'An 89-year-old great-grandfather got the shock of his life when he used the internet to try to find the answer to a crossword clue - only for pages of X-rated pornographic images to pop up on his screen. Crossword fan Jack Sedgewick, from Roman Road, Basingstoke, was trying to find the answer to a difficult clue in The Sunday Express magazine crossword, and thought he would use the web for help. But when he typed the two words into search engine Yahoo, rather than finding the answer, he was instead left disgusted by the images that came up on his PC.

'The former engineer said: "It has certainly shaken me. It's terrifying to think that children could be searching other such innocent words and have this come up instead." He tried using just one of the words to see if it made a difference, but was bombarded with even more disturbing images. The grandfather of four, who only started using the internet for help with crosswords in the past few months, eventually found the correct answer of Onager, which is a wild Asian donkey.

'But he has been left disgusted by his original findings, discovering a rather different kind of "Asian ass" than the crossword clue was asking for. Jack said: "I was so annoyed because as soon as I found out the answer I thought: 'I should have known that'." - The Basingstoke Gazette.

Well, if you want to get caught up, Future Shop has the first 2 seasons on DVD for a lot cheaper than anywhere else, like $20 a season. It's a lot of fun and Bruce Campbell is ... well, he's Bruce Campbell.
