Raven_Space
The only really exciting shows happening on New Years Eve this year haven't been mentioned on here. They are In Toronto: The Sadies at the Horseshoe Tavern -with their new album as 'The Unintended' about to be released (new band along with Rick White of Elevator/ Eric's trip and Greg Keelor), there is no tighter band playing currently than The Sadies. In Hamilton: Sylvain Sylvain at the Corktown -you wanna see a living legend? This dude was in the fuckin' New York Dolls. Enough said. Fat Cats and Diesel Dog - god bless 'em both but they always play around here. Nero? Never heard 'em. Maybe never will.
Del
If you haven't heard nero, then you really can't say what the best NYE show going on is. I'd be happy to B&P you some if you'd like... www.phishhook.com/lists/PhishRaver Hope you have a good one, whatever you do...

jay sanislo
thats the way i felt about diesel dog and the fatties, but i just came down to the easiest and a little bit cheaper to stay at home this year and stay in the hometown and head down to PJC. OH YEAH IM GETTIN PUMPED
secondtube
the CORKTOWN for NYE....hahahahahahahahahahahahaha x 1000000 i have some ummmm...friends...that have went to the corktown the last few new years....and ummm, lets just say the corktown would be the last place you'd find me on NYE. even if phish was playing there... the corktown.....anyone need any crack? or maybe herpe's? we gottem both! LOL! The venue is more important than the band on NYE. (at least i think so)

I think you're just as likely to get into a bad scene outside of PJC. After all, it is right next to that huge meat market bar Fever or whatever it's called now. Shitty area of town after 1:00 AM too.
secondtube
sorry pal, i disagree. a cool venue for NYE is what i believe is most important. same reason i went to PJC last year for some decent/crappy dj's... we actually have friends (in their late 30's) coming to PJC this evening, as they have spent their past few nye's at corktown, and need a new place to party. the corktown is probably the worst bar, next to the sandbar, in hamilton. as i said, even if phish was there, i'd stay away. especially from the bathrooms at Corktown...i've seen some crazy stuff go down in there...!! secondtube
oh, and eventually you'll see nero. i'm sure they will come back....sometime. nero has skipped hamilton in their last few tours...but i'm sure with two jambars now, that'll change. bouche
Who in the hell is "New York Dolls"??? I'm pretty excited about the party magnet that is called nero hosting the show in Ottawa. People are coming from everywhere for this. Feels like Come together festival without any of the other bands, or the camping.

kung
You're right about The Sadies tonight. I almost made the trip up for that. You really won't find a tighter band out there at least in their idiom. You can hear the miles and inclination in their playing and the xylophone works perfect with the band. The Unintended sounds interesting as well. You may have lost people with Sylvain Sylvain. So he was in the New York Dolls- so was Buster Poindexter. I'd imagine there's a reason he's playing at a crackhead bar in Hamilton. Just a guess.
bouche
I don't think i was ever into "glam" anything. However, I did attend a Platinum Blonde concert before I knew what music was.

ratski
dont know much about irenes pub but id have to say that andrew vincent and the pirates are one of my favourite bands right now and if i could drive or wasnt too hung over to sit on a bus id be there. mp3s at www.kelprecords.com the corktown was pretty cool bar in the hamilton indie rock community for a spell in teh early 90's a fucked up bar but they did bring sloan, erics trip and tons of others to town. if i dont go see the sadies or the tijuana bibles in toronto i might go. it shoul dbe quite busy i think for the sylvian sylvian show.
