I also happen to think Ashes and Fire was pretty weak too so it was kinda disappointing after waiting 3 years to get this.....however, in an interview with NYT from awhile back to promo this record, RA said that he recorded an entire album about his grandmother passing away but had to convince Capitol not to release it because he said it was "too depressing".
