  1. A bought a bunch. this is where I regularly buy my meat anyway. According to the Kahoot folks it only seems good for meat - i.e. not the other stuff that they sell. I'm still not convninced that is correct. Are they going to separat my milk, eggs, and cheese, from the meat before punching everything in?
  2. A couple of weeks ago they had "darkstar" coffee. Is somebody there a deadhead?
  3. Charlie Sheen's Winning Recipes from Charlie Sheen
  4. It's a 20 minute bike ride from downtown to Hogs Back (unless you are riding on knobby snow tires, then it's about 30 minutes). I live in Sandy Hill and work at Prince of Wales and Colonnade, so this is my route to work. Is Hogs Back Park the park North of Hogs Back Road, i.e. across the street from Mooney's Bay (and a bit east)? One of the reasons that they are using for the move is easier bus access.
  5. they've been playing the Beatles' Abbey Road on this tour - that is, playing one song each night, in order. So far they've played: Come Together Something Maxwell's Silver Hammer Oh! Darling last night was the 36th anniversary of Pigpen's passing, and the show looked like a tribute to him: Oakdale Theatre Wallingford, CT 3/8/11 I. Mississippi Half Step> Easy Wind Operator Oh! Darling Reuben & Cerise> Dark Hollow Money For Gasoline> Foolish Heart II. Hard To Handle> Smokestack Lightnin'> Spoonful> He's Gone> Turn On Your Lovelight> Scarlet Begonias> Fire On The Mountain Days Between> Eyes of the World> Sugar Magnolia E. Johnny B. Goode
  6. http://www.lettersofnote.com/2011/02/grateful-dead-has-many-problems.html The "Fuck You" that is scrawled on the letter was apparently the work of Phil.
  7. I actually watched that live last night. Why am I so obsessed with him? The dude is clearly not well. and he has lots of anger, clearly.
  8. subway sucks. and their bread is awful notwithstanding the fact that they bake it on site.
  9. They're playing at Mavericks with Wide Mouth Mason on April 30.
  10. and Steven Bernstein on trumpet! I had no idea that it was him until the introductions. He's an awesome jazz musician and band leader in his own right. was a lounge lizard, in sex mob.
  11. Byron Isaacs. he plays bass in Ollabelle, which also includes Amy Helm. if you haven't heard them you need to check them out - seriously.
  12. Lucinda opened with a 70 minute set. Levon et al played for 2 hrs. Lucinda joined them for those two tunes.
  13. thanks for the review - and nice pictures. i was there Friday night. I just happened to be in town for a meeting and grabbed a floor ticket from Craigslist for $50 on Friday. Can't speak highly enough of the show. wow. Attics was the highlight for me. didn't know it was a possibility. but not a complete surprise knowing that Teresa, Amy, and Larry all participated in the american beauty project. Colin Linden also sat in for two tunes, including The Weight. The two hours just whizzed by. Lucinda was great as well. She joined Levon for The Weight and I shall be Released.
  14. but its a "once-in-a-lifetime event."
  15. people in Toronto have no right to complain about pizza choices and quality. try living in Ottawa where the pizza is great as long as you like chicago style thick crust pizza. which I do not, and have yet to find a decent pizza. I actually stock up on Mamma's pizza whenever i'm in Toronto. not as good as it was in the days of Monte Carlo, but still quite good IMO, especially for a chain.
  16. I think art-is-in's breads are generally much better than their pastries. I've been buying the crazy grain regularly for the last few weeks. One of the problems with the place is they don't make large quantities of most of the breads so it is hit or miss. I saw a multigrain sourdough once - didn't buy it - and haven't seen it since. they make lots of the crazy grain. I've been going more vegy lately, so this place beats dirienzo's hands down. their baguettes are just so damn good. The cod sandwich was awesome. cod fried in a beaus beer batter, homemade tarter sauce on a brioche bun. agree re the cinnamon rolls. all other pastries have been just okay. and VERY heavy on the butter. their pizza flat bread is also awesome.
  17. $140 seems kind of steep. what's the setup for concerts at Downsview Park. The only show I've seen there was the Black Crowes for the Q107 birthday bash. I won "VIP" tickets for that show, which was otherwise free. but the fence separating the VIP section from the GA section had come down by the time we got there.
  18. I'm glad I made it in. And I think I need to buy tickets in advance when the GoodRev is in the band. I got shut out of the Lee Harvey Osmond show at the Elmdale a couple of months gao. I thought the same thing. they definitely seemed to be posing at times. looked like they were lining up the guitars at points. and they've got this look about them, the fashion etc... but, the music, I thought, was pretty good. good harmonies - reminded me of Fleet Foxes a bit. great to finally meet you too , as well as and . (I think that's who I met!)
  19. ya, it was pretty packed. I was wondering how many more people the place could hold. I was tired after a long week, and need to get up early saturday, but at 10:30 decided to just go. I got there right at 11:00 and got in. Huron was about 10 minutes into their set, which went till 11:30. My only complaint is that i wish it was longer. hung out for some of Great Bloomers and left around 12:15. and now i'm going to sleep.
  20. I have it somewhere. still on the master cassette. I need to make a digital copy. Is there a relatively easy way of hooking up my computer to my stereo and doing that? alternatively I've been meaning to borrow a standalone CD player/burner for that purpose.
  21. actually, it was at markham fairgrounds. i totally missed that. I think i was wandering around, for some inexplicable reason, during Lanois' set. 97 was at molson park. with los lobos (i patched into the board for a recording), sheryl crowe, and ?? asshole security wouldn't let us take in our thermarests and chair conversion kits.

  23. there's gonna be a lot of wookies sleeping in the fields surrounding Bethel. Three nights there is kinda nuts IMO. Beautiful venue, but as already mentioned there is nothing close. and it's real easy to get lost in that area. really interesting area, with lots of chasidic camps throughout. although, the shows are before school is out, so it may not be as busy.
  24. The thing that i find most puzzling is the fact that so many people I know, and with whom I tend to share general musical tastes, just love these guys. I remember when I was at the first Vegoose and my buddies went to see Arcade Fire instead of Widespread Panic, I thought that they were nuts. but hey, mileage varies. I did think that the make your own video for the Suburbs was kind of cool. but the song just didn't catch on with me. no hate here. but they still suck (I group them with Broken Social Scene. I really love much jamband music, and have always been into "alternative" music as well, but these are two bands that do absolutely nothing for me. and hey - more tickets for you who do like them, and more room for me to dance at a widespread panic show!)
