  1. I'm waiting for his reply to my offer. He wanted $1700 for High Speed, and $600 for Far Out- and these prices both seems on point with what I have been able to research online. Both have been shopped in the last year and are working perfectly- and have a box of extra parts.
  2. I can't wait to read about Jay Malinowski's performance. That guy is both a total hack and a massive trainwreck. gentlemonkey: please go and take your notepad. I'd love to hear your take on things.
  3. Yup. There is no on-site camping for patrons- only for volunteers, vendors and staff. They run school bus shuttles back and forth to Burl's Creek. Other than the unbelievably beautiful/ perfect for a festival site, there are no reasons to go to Mariposa for a weekend IMO.
  4. This is the park that they use for camping for the Mariposa Folk Fest too, but the article seems to indicate they bought the property. I hope they still let the old folkies camp there.
  5. Crazy coincidence: I just got an email from a guy who wants to sell me three machines at a sharp price. One of those is Far Out. The others are a '79 Stern - Dracula and an '85 High Speed - Williams.
  6. Excellent tip- thanks DB! Edit: Found the 2014 edition: http://user.xmission.com/~daina/pinlist_info.html
  7. Now you know two ;-) My "score" was on StubHub about two days before the show. My travel partner wanted very specific seat locations so I didn't want to mess around in the lots. Nice freaking work Todd!
  8. Yeah, I really need to get back to Ottawa to check it out. While in Brooklyn recently, I visited JackBar - which is the same concept, minus the live music and perogies. My dream is my own House of Targ downstairs. Duly noted. I loved that game, but the machine they had at the U of Waterloo while I was there always had a sticky left flipper ;-)
  9. Are there any skanks that consider themselves to be big fans of the silver ball? I don't mean the casual kind that just mash both flippers at once, but rather those who think of themselves as the 'Tommy' of their town? I'm fairly addicted, but haven't found too many machines out here in Huron County. I've actually reached the point that I might buy one or two for our basement playroom. Favourite memories playing? Favourite machines? I'm partial to the late 80's / early 90's machines like Tommy, World Cup Soccer 94, Addams Family and reaching back a bit earlier Getaway and Pinbot. My favourite memory is playing pinball at the old Lincoln Mall in St. Catharines while we waited for the local Ticketmaster to give away wrist bands to big shows, which always got released at 5pm. I would go there straight from school to wait and those two hours just melted away. That was a time when I could drop in fifty cents and play for an hour or more. Have any of you considered buying this instead of a decent used car? http://www.thebiglebowskipinball.com/game
  10. I scored tickets for NYE for $40 each (section 314) and then got a free upgrade into the suite level at Guest Services. My PTBM GA floors for 1/1 were fine, but paled in comparison to the previous night. Friggin amazing!! I do wish I had stuck around for all 4 shows, it seems like the heat was at the end of the run. That said, lounging by a pool and walking on the beach during the day of a Phish show was an incredible feeling. "I hope this happens once again".
  11. Over at http://keepyourpantson.ca/ you can buy an ornament or belt buckle that will tell the world you love Ween. I mean, who wouldn't want this proudly displayed above their package? (edit: this is obviously the ornament version) http://www.keepyourpantson.ca/product/monday
  12. A free download of the Thursday show is here: https://deathorgloryllc.app.box.com/THSTOR And a video of Stay Positive from the last night is here:
  13. Valhallas - Barr Brothers Jigsaw Heart - Elliott Brood
  14. I really loved Acid Tongue. I was pretty surprised when I read the liner notes and one of the guests was Chris Robinson. Her set to open Bridge School 2013 was one of the best (and shortest) of the afternoon.
  15. My vote for the best box set of 2014 goes to Third Man Records for this incredible set of Jack White's performance from Bonnaroo. 3 lps, dvd, patch, USB stick full of goodies, 4 8x10 B+W glossy photos, poster and a baseball card. The value we get from our Third Man vault subscription is ridiculous!
  16. Saturday was ridiculous. I only got 3 of the 8 songs I had been chasing over the course of two nights (and mentioned in an earlier thread) - but they played everything the crowd wanted to hear including a second helping of the Canadian covers from earlier in the week and debuted a Bryan Adams cover also. You had to be there to believe it! Ask Her For Adderall Sequestered In Memphis Rock Problems Magazines Navy Sheets Continuous Thunder (Japandroids Cover) Stuck Between Stations The Swish Chips Ahoy! Lord, I'm Discouraged Constructive Summer Hot Soft Light Don't Let It Bring You Down (Neil Young Cover) Joke About Jamaica Massive Nights You Can Make Him Like You Southtown Girls Slapped Actress -Encore- Cuts Like A Knife (Bryan Adams Cover) Young Lions (Constantines Cover) Citrus Your Little Hoodrat Friend Stay Positive How a Resurrection Really Feels Killer Parties (with fans invading the stage until it was jammed)
  17. I'm here and amped. Last night was damn close to perfection. They included 'Young Lions' by The Constantines for the Canadian cover in the encore. The facebook feed this afternoon put to rest rumors of a Stay Positive performance, but we were told instead to "Expect something special". Personally I'm hoping for a b-side heavy set. There are about 8 songs that I have never seen them play live. Schwa just texted predicting a set of covers by bands that have made the Horseshoe rock over the years. Either way, I'd be ready for rock n roll heaven.
  18. The Hold Steady go on around 1130 tonight for anyone who wants their ass kicked by rock n roll.
  19. I'd like to reset on this choice. After two perfect music listening experiences over the past week, nothing that was released this year moves me the way The Barr Brothers release does. It is both delicate and powerful, familiar and challenging, mournful and triumphant. Fuckin eh!!
  20. The main influence I hear with WODrugs is Dire Straits, but to each their own. Ex. I checked out the Sturgill Simpson yesterday. It sounded like Garth Travis
  21. You just described Phish- Coventry, except you could add 8 miles in each direction.
  22. Perhaps it was a warm up gig, or they were working out whatever surprise it is that they were supposed to tweet / facebook last week? There is no note on the Unified Scene boards. Personally I hope they were rehearsing with Franz who is coming back just so they can play some whole albums from the sophomore years.
  23. Zeus - Classic Zeus War on Drugs - Lost in the Dream Barr Brothers - Sleeping Operator Drive by Truckers - English Oceans Mac DeMarco - Salad Days Justin Townes Earle - Single Mothers Donny Hathaway - Live at the Bitter End (although I presume this is a reissue of some sort) And while they are not on my list of top albums of the year, The Hold Steady - Teeth Dreams and Phish - Fuego share the crown for the 'Return to Form' albums of the year.
  24. He got his gear in. He used some red herring metal on his person.
