Northern Wish

Daniel Lanois performed prior to the Hips set at Molson Park in Barrie. I'm not positive but I think it was in July of 95- at the second go round of Another Roadside Attraction. While its pretty obvious that putting Lanois on before the Hip was a mis match- the suburnt and drunk crowd let Dan have it. "Hip, Hip, Hip" chants throughout his first few songs and when he didn't vacate the stage the bottles started to fly. Hundreds of them hit the stage and Lanois eventually had to leave before really finishing. I forget exactly what Gord said when he took the stage but he didn't pull any punches letting the rowdy crowd that their behaviour was embarrassing and inexcuseable. I'm pretty sure they then opened with 'Thugs'.

I think that prior to prime season, parks such as this are usually closed Monday to Friday. The exception would be end of the year school trip days- as is common at Canada's Wonderland. If it were July 8th you would be totally correct. I for one am totally pumped for this- hell shouldn't I be? Its on my 35th birthday, with roller coasters, and funnel cakes and Phish. My ex girlfriend was one of the editors at The Gazette out of Western when we first met and Mark Pytlik was on her staff. Mark hung around with us alot and was a pretty great writer even back them. And he was definitely ahead of the hipster curve as far as fashion and music went. I thought he'd be writing for Time by now, not Pitchfork.

I was questioning whether this was another wonderfully imaginative post from a PTer, or if there was any truth to it. It seems that just about every venue across America got a starring role in the Summer Tour rumors.

If its even possible to have a rumor based partly in truth at this point then I would love to believe the newest rumor: Big Cypress NYE 2011-2

Does anyone else think they are saving the Watkins festival announcement for after the on sale date of this first round of shows? It was tough enough for them to send all of those heady Lawn tickets to the lottery "winners" last year and it would be even tougher to sell Darien with that looming less than three weeks later.....

IMO: Its about time they used tiered pricing for summer sheds! Bethel is going to be a shit show of DUI's. There isn't anywhere to stay for miles and miles and miles....

But on second thought that would be one hell of a drive from Cinci, to Great Woods and back to Darien: 14 hours from Cinci to Mansfield 8 hours from Mansfield to Darien I think Star Lake in there is more likely with Great Woods on leg 2.
