Northern Wish

Forgive me if I am light on details here but I saw a notice this morning in the Citizen that The Mill Tavern (to be known as Mill St Brew Pub) has put in an application for a liquor license at 555 Wellington St. That is the confusing part. That address is the middle of the 'intersection' of Scott, Bronson and Wellington Sts. I wonder if they are building something, taking something over, or if the address is just a misprint. When they upload new merch the password screen will not be there. They put that up in between offerings until all orders that have been placed are sent out. I think it has to do with the distribution problems and the resulting Ryan rant after III/IV was released. An email arrived on Saturday telling me the store was open and I went in right away. I put three shirts and the watch into my cart- and before I could place the order I got a pop up stating the one shirt was no longer available. $92 for two shirts and a watch- shipped priority. Not good, but not too bad.

For those interested the store on Pax Am Records has had a few "re-ups" over the past few weeks. Shirts, vinyl and a Cardinals watch are being made available in extremely limited quantities. The shows according to his facebook posts are solo.

Embracing 'old' and 'new' media all at once. What a fucking band! Maybe I don't love all of their music, but man if they haven't turned the music world upside down a little bit.

So I gather from all of these tapes that Dr. Dog are the new Velvet Underground? Ie. They don't sell many records, but those that are sold go to people who form/ perform in good bands.

IIRC he did both Everybody Knows this is Nowhere and The Night They Drove Ol Dixie Down at Bluesfest a few years back. I was definitely impressed.

That sucks because I find the version on the Celebration tribute to be pretty solid.

Bad sight lines and shitty sound if you aren't in 'the zone'.

And this will certainly sell out. Pass.

What? They play Atlanta tomorrow and Ottawa/ Toronto back to back next week.

I was in first place for the first two rounds of this tourney (out of 90) but have fallen apart in the round of 16 and the elite eight. I'm loving this years edition- even though my brackets are busted!

It might fuck with the tempo of the party, but I think The Rheostatics 'Stolen Car' is crank worthy.
