  1. Fuck that- I'm leaving at lunch. But its got more to do with March Madness than it does green beer.... This day is second only to New Years Eve as far as amateur hour goes IMO.
  2. LIVE DATES TO INCLUDE FESTIVAL AND TELEVISION APPEARANCES; According to Rolling Stone, Robbie Robertson is planning several live shows with backing from Dawes. The live performances are said to include television and select festival dates in support of Robertson's upcoming solo album How To Become Clairvoyant, out April 5. Says Robertson, "[My manager] came up with the idea of maybe working with them if I was going to do some TV things. We had a rehearsal a couple weeks ago in L.A. and ran over a few tunes, and it just felt pretty natural. They’re really good and they’re a band – it’s different than just getting a bunch of individual musicians and trying to make them click and blend. The guys are already in the blend, so that’s great. They’re all at the top of their game. I’m the one that’s a little rusty.†Robertson adds, “Some bands today have the experience of really working together and honing their craft. And other bands are very much like, ‘I just got a guitar for Christmas, let's start a band.’ And you can hear the difference. You can hear a certain experience in some groups and it just feels grounded and when they play it’s such a strong unit. Even if they’re trying to not play as a strong unit there’s something that just works together – they know what works.†How To Become Clairvoyant is Robertson's fifth solo album and first in a decade. Guitar virtuosos Eric Clapton (who co-wrote three tracks with Robertson), Tom Morello and Robert Randolph guest on the album, which Robertson co- produced with Marius de Vries. How To Become Clairvoyant also features Steve Winwood and Trent Reznor, as well as vocalists Angela McCluskey, Rocco Deluca, Dana Glover and Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes. Bassist Pino Palladino and drummer Ian Thomas lay down the groove throughout.
  3. If he "retires" it won't last for long. He might be a pussy or a whiner, but he is also a competitor and those fires burn strong in young men.
  4. OK thats better- I thought you were down with Phish all of a sudden!
  5. Or when the filler on 6 new Phish shows were all from 8.9.98?!
  6. Ron will be the musical guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight...
  7. For anyone still thinking about Darien, there are still about 30 seats left in the 300s, and 700+ total 'seats' left. The interactive map is up for viewing at livenation.com
  8. We got section 203 for Darien- after pulling about 10 sets of lawns which we released each time. In the future folks, keep releasing shitty tickets until the :05 to :10 after the onsale. The ticketmaster guy yesterday brought me up to speed on how to beat the scalpers that hold lots of tickets right away but don't buy them all. They hope we give up and go to stubhub- and then the drops happen within that 5 minute period. I also have a pair in Section 12 for Bethel 2.
  9. An independent arbitrator; I was thinking along the lines of Tissue Man or Low Roller.
  10. Maybe DBT jumped the gun on announcing it on their site and it has just been temporarily removed. A 7 hour drive while you are sleeping in a bed on a bus isn't tough at all.....
  11. On Saturday, March 19, Deer Tick will play as Deervana, performing a full set of songs by Nirvana. The show is scheduled for 1 AM at Lustre Pearl in Austin, TX. The show is a part of the group's scheduled stop at SXSW. Very cool IMO!
  12. News: From Tim Thompson: "Ah, the wind is cold but the smell of snow warms me today" The Lowest of the Low open HNIC this Saturday around 7pm on CBC. This one's like a short film...looking really cool so far! A fitting game for them too, Buffalo vs Toronto.
  13. Their few 'hits' if they could be called that, included Salesmen, Cheats and Liars, Rosy + Grey, and the song Henry Needs a New Pair of Shoes which won them the CFNY New Music Search in 1991 (? not sure on the year).
  14. View Larger Map Right above the 'Back' in Hogs Back Road, where the two roads lead into the park is the approx. Main Stage area.
  15. This site has been talked about since 2009. Yes it is the park located North of Mooneys Bay Park and South of Vincent Massey Park. On this map where you see the Route 51 demarkation, just north of that where the two roads lead into the park would be the area of the main stage: http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&safe=off&q=hogs+back&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Hogs+Back,+Ottawa,+Ottawa+Division,+Ontario&ll=45.3728,-75.693226&spn=0.013958,0.027595&z=15 The sightlines, natural surroundings, close proximity to bus routes and students, availability and past experience with big events were all mentioned as reasons for the move. While I agree that downtown would be better, the reality is that sites in the core are limited by their cost and availability. I'm not sure what to think. I've been thinking about this site change for some time since it was announced internally and while it may make for a bigger fest- I will certainly miss being able to take a break and have a swim during the festival. I will not miss losing most of my crew at 11 so they can hit the buses while they leave the 3 or 4 driver volunteers to do tear down. Oh and: http://www.jambands.ca/sanctuary/showtopic.php?tid/259628/
  16. I DO. ALOT. April 1 + 2 in Ottawa. I'm going!
