  1. Did he actually not believe in Heaven, or did he just "Imagine there's no Heaven?"
  2. I remember that day very well. I remember asking, "Who's John Lennon?" I learned a lot that day. Very tragic; very senseless; very sad. RIP.
  3. I was having a discussion about this with a fellow-Skank recently. He is absolutely against the idea of flowers and other monuments being erected at the side of the road where accidents caused the death of someone. He compared it to placing flowers in the hospital room where people died, or at the scene of a murder; both of which he believes would be ridiculous, because that is why we have cemeteries and headstones. This conversation started because, apparently, the Ontario government will soon be replacing these flowers with some sort of official plaque or monument or something. (I don't know all the details, but this is what my fellow-Skank told me.) Now, I had never really thought much about this before, but I am curious if others have opinions on this. Anyone adamantly against flowers or other monuments at the side of the road? Anyone adamantly pro-flowers? Any thoughts at all?
  4. I cast my vote for Velvet. So far... Velvet: 1 Anybody else: 0
  5. Themasses will be getting them Whistlerite asses moving this January at Dusty's!
  6. Really? Wow! I would love it if you had that for me in January. I am, in fact, coming out to nero. I'll owe ya one after that, for sure!
  7. Okay... Marco: Yes. Phorbesie: Agreed. I also had a great time. Ollie: I saw the same show at the Gardens in Toronto. I believe it was the "So" tour.
  8. I love this band, and hope one day to grow up to be Spudly...
  9. I am guessing that was while he lay down on top of the crowd and let everyone pass him around the stadium during "Lay Your Hands on Me"?
  10. That was the show, which would have been '86. Why didn't you come up and say 'hello'? lol Given my night out on the street, I did have front-row centre tickets, and am proud to say that I actually touched the lead-singer-guy's boot. Yep. Revere me.
  11. The solution (as unpleasant as it might sound) is simple and will eventually be implemented. Only invitees will be able to email you. We will eventually use software that will require someone to first request that they be added to your "safe" list before being able to email you. It will be cumbersome, because humans will have to physically allow access to certain people, and it will be annoying because old friends won't be able to suddenly show up in your Inbox unannounced, but that is the way the tides are turning. (I think.)
  12. I'm diggin' this guy. I never even once heard his name while I was out West.
  13. Well, with just over three weeks to go, it seemed timely for a BUMP!
  14. I remember phoning TM at the exact second that Jethro Tull tickets went on sale for Hamilton in 1989. I hurriedly and excitedly asked the female voice that answered to get me two tickets. I realized that the urgency wasn't really there when she said, "Hold on a second and I'll see if he's playing." lol
  15. ... or like when my friend Doug and I camped out for Stranglers tickets when we were 14. (Obviously, we were the only ones there.)
  16. The encore was a medley of Tommy songs, including See Me Feel Me and others; plus that new song.
  17. I certainly don't mean to insult Simon Townshend's playing. In fact, I couldn't if I tried, because no matter how hard I tried to listen for him I never did hear a note come out of his guitar. I do agree, though, Brad that he was probably somewhere in the mix, but I couldn't sense it. (That's very cool that he is currently in a band with a Stiff Little Finger. I have to check that band out.)
  18. Those of you who attended: You'll recall that Pete Townshend's brother was on stage with a guitar in hand. Am I the only one who thinks that guitar was not running through any amp whatsoever? Anyone know anything about him, or is it just as I suspect that he said, "Come on Pete, I've always wanted to be in The Who. This is probably my last chance. Pretty please!"
  19. The Boot Pub is gone. The Telus Conference Centre has pissed off Upstream. Where does that leave Whistler for indoor shows? If you have some thoughts on that, I encourage you to participate in the poll on this topic, located here, and tell Upstream where you want to see their shows in the mountains.
  20. Unless his life has changed recently, I believe you'd be most likely to meet Ian Astbury at a "Riders on the Storm" (formerly "Doors of the 21st Century") show. He does a surprisingly good job filling those big shoes for that band, too.
  21. I was there. I had fun, but Roger definitely had some trouble hitting the high notes. I also realized that this band is just on the verge of doing the casino-circuit, when the guy behind me yelled at the guy in front of me to "Sit down!". I'm glad I went, but was certainly not blown away.
  22. So, here are the actual venues: Dicks on Dicks = Commodore Merlins = Dusty's
