  1. NewRider is correct. I personally know of many musicians who have run into this. Sometimes, though, their opening act, or band or roadies aren't allowed in to Canada with them, which can make for an "interesting" show. (I won't say who the musician was, but I was witness to an unbelievable show at the Commodore in Vancouver; unbelievable in a bad way. The promoter of that show will not be bringing that musician back to Canada again.)
  2. I'm a close, personal friend of Velvet. I swear.
  3. I think you forgot to mention that you and SRV also switched hats, briefly, during that encounter, and then switched back. As a result, you didn't take off that hat for about a dozen years thereafter.
  4. Actually, me too. Otherwise ... oh well.
  5. Beats could use an editor, but I probably wouldn't have the same affinity that I currently have for him if he had one.
  6. I once had to push Randy Bachman out of my way in order to meet Neil Young as he was being led through the room I was in at a post-Governor-General-Awards-Party. ... and for those who missed it, I think Jared gave us a very significant clue as to who it was that he wrote about during his first post in this thread:
  7. Yes! That's what I was waiting for; a Codetalkers show where I won't have to meet Lazlo! In!
  8. You cannot be blamed for having different taste than other people. You cannot be blamed if a band puts on a bad show compared to their usual show. When you go out for entertainment, even if invited by someone else, there is no contract that says "you shall be entertained and have your mind blown by this show" such that someone can later blame another person for their failure to be entertained or have their mind blown.
  9. Yes. You can dress us up, but...
  10. I am soooo tempted to change my online name right now...
  11. That's just good advice for anyone.

  15. Would you trade an $800 guitar for them, though?
  16. Oh! Just as good, and thanks for clarifying AD. Happy birthday my friend!
  17. I can relate. I no longer miss the touring days, which are really a decade-and-a-half in the past for me and a whole other world, but I know how you feel. With this season, and the 400 cms of snow currently in Whistler, I'm feeling very homesick these days.
  18. Happy birthday! (Is this the same Skank who was once known as \/\/illy?)
  19. This is incredible news. Too bad about the Colonel, but I'll take a Codetalkers show anytime. No Toronto dates planned, I take it? Does this mean I'll really have to meet Lazlo in person?
  20. Lawsuit over copyright infringement, by Bill Graham's coporation. It was a suit over the use of some Grateful Dead related images/posters that were used in a biography. Bill Graham's company was not paid for a license to use the images in the book. At trial, it was found to be "fair use", so no damages payable to Graham. This was an appeal, which found the same thing, and Graham's company's appeal was dismissed.
