  1. Kevin Breit and Harry Manx were at the Edmonton Folk Festival this past weekend, so its a bit doubtful that he'll be there, but maybe..
  2. Anyone know? I think I may find myself in the neighbourhood..
  3. just got home now. although i missed a lot of the festival, it was a great night and i f'n love seeing you guys, its always a kick ass time! great to see apostle of hustle again, shed a different light on a few of the tracks off the new album that hadn't previously clicked. holy fuck were high energy and definitely the musical highlight!!! as for wolf parade, i can now confidently say they are NOT my cup of tea. for those who like em, they played almost entirely new songs in their set (i think). my last memories of the night include NW rambling on about the greatness of ryan adams, and walking around with stapes looking for a fork.
  4. probably best to leave any shared trips to the bordello out of the speech My mom's opinion is that this one is too sexual. lol! I should've mentioned that I need to find a quote or reading because this is for the CEREMONY, not the reception. So it won't be story telling time. The wedding is next Saturday and I still don't know what I'm gonna read! Maybe something by Kahlil Gibran, but that's just so obvious.
  5. thanks for the heads up, i'm gonna check it out. been hanging out with lots of kiwis lately.
  6. I wouldn't mind a copy o that! Can you post it on SendSpace or somethin?
  7. I drove Hamilton > Toronto today to look at 2 apartments... BOTH landlords did NOT show up at our scheduled time (or at all). Then it took no less than TWO HOURS to drive from Toronto to Hamilton. Its 615pm. Theres a traffic jam from Ancaster all down the 403 all the way to the QEW. In short, I won't be there tonight. Coming tomorrow. Still need a camping spot.
  8. Luke Doucet played mostly new stuff last night to a crowd of 10 people max. Folsom Prison > I'm On Fire cover at the end was fun. Encore was a great bluesy number that was a tribute to Rick Danko and the bassman in general. (opening lyrics something like "I was in Woodstock the day Rick Danko died"). My one suggestion for these nights is the lighting.. Couldn't really see Luke! Maybe swing one of those pot lights on the ceilings around so its pointing towards the band's area. Great to see the Rev on the pedal steel next door too!
  9. With Drew Smith? Cool, I will come by and check it out. If I pay cover in one room does that give me access to the other?
  10. thanks craig. the hunt continues!
  11. i just picked up a 250 GB seagate with SATA (not sure what that is but i think its good) for about $90. in korea though..
  12. I haven't heard back from MapleMusic either about camping. Hope I don't have to sleep in the car!
  13. i just bought two tickets today.. i'm hoping that no camping tickets for sale on maple music does not necessarily mean no camping spots left!
  14. Hey skanks, I'm on the lookout for a place to live in West Toronto.. Somewhere between High Park and say, Bathurst, and I wouldn't want to go much further north than Bloor. I'm leaning towards a bachelor pad but I may consider roommates. So far I'm looking on Craigslist and Viewit.ca.. But I thought I'd check in here too. Anyone have any leads? Thanks.
  15. Coool. Did you catch Kevin Breit with that band Tallboys?
  16. hello all - i'm home! i see that kill the lights are playing here on monday. worth checking out?? highly recommended? they did some shows with the slip a while back didn't they? i may go have a look-see.
  17. Cool I found a blog with a live version of The Decemberists covering "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down". The Band The Band The Band The Band The Band The Band The Band!
