I haven't seen this band in years! Gonna try to make it to the show at Supermarket.

I thought this one was on Saturday?! Ah well, I can't make it either way. BUT I must say that 'The Milk Of Human Kindness' is definitely in my top 5 or 6 albums of the past few years. The new one is good too, but I need more time alone with it. I hope the show goes well!

K/GAMBE!! I prefer Max (made by Prime) when it came to the Korean brews.. Its allegedly a wheat brew. Cass Red comes in at a close 2nd. Of course Platinum Microbrew in Gangnam takes the cake.

Just a heads up that Akron/Family, who were robbed in Toronto last night, are playing tonight in Guelph and tomorrow in Ottawa. I'm going to go ahead and say this is one of the top three movies I've seen in the last 12 months, along with Half Nelson and The Science of Sleep.

The guy who does the Zoilus blog just pointed out a mix that was compiled by pianist Vijay Iyer for free jazz music blog Destination: Out. As the Zoilus guy writes: "Vijay Iyer, who's maybe the most exciting younger player in the music today, has compiled a superb 'Solo Piano Mixtape' for D:O, with his own annotations, which are beautifully written and insightful. It includes tunes by Geri Allen, Randy Weston, Cecil Taylor, Sun Ra and Andrew Hill as well as two by Iyer himself. It's up for one week only, so hop on over there." I saw a great movie the other night called ONCE. Its an Irish movie about a musician who busks on the streets of Dublin, and the birth of his relationship with this girl who gives him 10 cents every day she sees him playing on the street. She's a musician as well, and they start collaborating. I'd say about half of the movie is just music being performed, and the music is excellent and moving. I wouldn't want to give anything away, save to say that its a wonderful, romantic sorta whimsical movie with great music! Yeah Jay, I just moved here is why! I've got a housewarming party to attend first of all Friday night, then hoping to make it over to Clinton's. Any idea how late the music will go?

Yeah I guess they played for free at the Harbourfront Centre only about 2 months ago or less so I could see that being somewhat of a deterrent for some people. THen again, maybe the opposite. Let me know if you're coming in Craig and we could meet up for some pre-festivities! I'm hoping to swing by that daytime party in the park for the Manifesto thinger.. On Saturday I think.
